Ramírez was vice-president of Nicaragua from 1984 to 1990 and is the author of 41 books, including nine novels.  In this novel, he creates the beautiful Amanda Solano, based on the life of Costa Rican author Yolanda Oreamuno.  Amanda is fascinated by the politics of her home country and passionate about justice, interested in Marxism since her school-age years.  She is a feminist and uses her beauty to get her way. Three of Amanda’s friends narrate this tale, portraying her as a rebellious, flirtatious home wrecker.  Suffering from the envy of others, Amanda is a fugitive in her own country.

RECOMMENDED for public and academic libraries.
