Starting middle school is hard enough for any kid, but when your closest friends decide to start a gang, it’s even more difficult.  Manny is torn between his loyalty to his friends that he has known since kindergarten, and his desire to be a good student and have a successful future.  He tries to choose both until faced with some activities that he is not comfortable with.  This book looks not only at the influence of gangs but also at the tough choices that adolescents face because of peer pressure.  My 13-year-old daughter also read this title and told me that “everyone in middle school should be required to read this book”.  Highly Recommended.
