The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Libraries seeks innovative, collaborative, user-focused applicants for an Undergraduate Learning Librarian.

UNLV is a comprehensive research university of approximately 27,000 students and 2,900 faculty and staff dedicated to teaching, research, and service. The university has internationally recognized programs in hotel administration and creative writing; professional degrees in law, architecture, and dental medicine; and leading programs in fine arts, sciences and education. This position is located within the Libraries' Division of Research and Education. In support of the University Libraries' mission and shared values, the Research and Education Division fosters collaborations that contribute to our users' academic success, research, and lifelong learning. The Division positively impacts student learning and supports the research and scholarly agenda of the University. This mission is realized through: instruction of learners using a variety of methods and tools, partnerships with faculty to create an integrated, assessable, information literacy-focused curriculum, provision of targeted information resources, expert, point-of need research assistance, and a commitment to fostering competencies for lifelong inquiry.

Reporting to the Head of Educational Initiatives, responsibilities include: serving as the Libraries' central contact with academic departments and programs that support the student experience in the first two years; providing research and technology assistance through individual and small group consultations and online user support; helping to shape new directions for initiatives that support student learning and faculty development; actively participating in assessment to articulate the Libraries' impact on student learning and to support continuous improvement of instructional programs and practices; teaching curriculum-integrated instruction sessions including those for first- and second-year programs and other targeted courses in the campus undergraduate curriculum; supporting subject liaison librarians as they find systematic ways to contribute to campus initiatives related to student learning; collaborating with teaching faculty to develop course content; applying technology to teaching; outreach and campus engagement that expands connections and builds partnerships; and working in a team environment with a focus on continuously enhancing the user experience.

The successful candidate will proactively develop partnerships with faculty to develop and deliver value-added services as well as new methods of delivering existing services to support the University's research and teaching initiatives. The candidate will also work collaboratively to explore and implement the use of emerging technologies for instruction, outreach, and assessment. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work in a complex, changing environment with a positive, flexible, and innovative attitude, and he or she will have a proven capacity to work effectively and collegially in teams with staff at all levels as well as with faculty and students.

Required: A master's degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association. Familiarity with information literacy theory, practice, and assessment. Knowledge of emerging information technologies and their application to research and teaching. Demonstrated success in a collaborative environment. Evidence of energy, creativity, initiative and commitment to professional growth. Excellent oral and written communication skills. The ability to prioritize workload assignments.

Preferred: Academic library experience with research assistance and information literacy instruction. Teaching experience or experience in instructional design in a higher education, library, or secondary education setting. Familiarity with learning theory and its integration into successful instructional technologies. Experience in developing working partnerships with academic departments and other campus communities. Demonstrated experience with project management.

This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position at Rank II (equivalent to an Assistant Professor). Salaries are competitive with those at similarly situated institutions and dependent upon labor market. Position is contingent upon funding.
