     Job Description
     The City of Fort Worth Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, technologically-savvy Librarian Supervisor to lead, manage and improve the Archives, Local History and Genealogy Unit.
The successful candidate will be an experienced manager, archivist and preservationist with demonstrated experience managing medium-sized digital-archival projects, including a sophisticated understanding of digital asset management systems and processes. Furthermore, the individual should enjoy and feel comfortable developing and maintaining relationships with potential donors, government officials and outside organizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•     Supervise and lead a team of five full-time professional employees and two contracted employees, assigning and reviewing work, scheduling, developing goals and objectives, reviewing performance and increasing productivity;
•     Manage annual budget for supplies, equipment, digitization projects, collection development and programs, and negotiate and manage contracts;
•     Oversee the development of the special collections, ensuring that they meet the public’s needs and can be contained within the library’s available space, including offsite storage;
•     Create, update and implement an ongoing five-year plan;
•     Manage and improve the library’s digitization efforts – identifying collections, planning initiatives, managing projects and meeting deadlines;
•     Understand and keep abreast of developments in digital and manuscript archives management, and digital and physical preservation techniques;
•     Possess in-depth knowledge of genealogy research techniques, and archival best practices, trends and standards, including DACS, EAD, MARC and Dublin Core;
•     Develop and maintain relationships with potential donors – including businesses, organizations and individuals – for the purpose of identifying, evaluating, soliciting and receiving special collections that support the Library’s collection-management goals;
•     Perform the role of City Archivist, serving as liaison with City of Fort Worth Records Management to transfer the City’s records to the Library Archives;
•     Devise, improve and evaluate workflows and processes;
•     Develop, plan and implement numerous public programs, workshops and special events; and,
•     Understand and communicate, in plain language, policies, procedure and guidelines.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Master’s Degree from an ALA (American Library Association) accredited college or universi¬ty with major course work in library and information scienc¬es; PLUS, four (4) years of professional library experience including two (2) years of lead responsibility.
Working Conditions:
Library environment; exposure to computer screens; irregular working hours; travel to multiple locations.
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting or standing for extended periods of time; general manual dexterity; adequate eyesight, speech, and hearing.

     Job Preferences
     Preferences may be given to applicants who possess the following:
•     Experience using the CONTENT dm digital asset management system;
•     An archival certification from a college or university.
     Conditions of Employment
     Persons selected for employment into any position must pass a drug test. Some positions may require passing an alcohol test. Previous employment and any additional experience will be subject to verification prior to employment processing. A driver’s license and driving record check will be conducted if driving is a job requirement. A post offer employment medical examination may be conducted prior to job placement.
