Position Title: Marketing Specialist, Associate
Department: The University of Arizona, UA Libraries Administration (Dept. 1701)
Location: Main Campus, Tucson
Classification: Full-Time; Permanent; Classified Staff; Exempt
Reports To: Jane Prescott-Smith, Special Assistant to the Dean

Position Summary:
The University of Arizona Libraries seeks a Marketing Specialist, Associate, to provide vision, direction and oversight of our digital communications as an integral member of the marketing communications team. S/he will create and produce digital content for the campus and broader community to support the Libraries' communication and marketing goals.
The Marketing Specialist, Associate, will oversee all social media in collaboration with colleagues from User Experience and Marketing Communications, developing compelling, on-brand content and graphics that engage our audience and build a stronger following. S/he will manage the e-newsletter and provide support to the news and events portions of the website.

The UA Libraries serves a diverse community of faculty, students, researchers, donors and community members. We experiment with new technology, design out-of-classroom learning spaces, provide research support in all disciplines, and ensure access to millions of books, e-books, films and scholarly content. The Marketing Specialist, Associate, will use digital tools to communicate our messages, broaden our reach, and improve the student and faculty experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:
. Writes content and develops graphics for social media and other digital communication channels.
. Develops and implements online messaging plans to grow the Libraries' presence on all social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
. Collaborates with User Experience and Communications Council to create content frameworks, including voice and tone guidelines, editorial standards and workflows.
. Collaborates with graphic designer, digital media producer and content strategist to create graphics and images that best represent the library's messaging and brand.
. Provides guidelines to and coordinates messaging with library staff for department-specific and audience-specific platforms.
. Analyzes social media engagement metrics, data and ROI for participation in social media sites to ensure success.
. Plans and executes monthly e-newsletter and develops strategies for expanding audience.
. Plans and executes pages for the news and events portion of the Libraries' websites.
. Provides support to graphic designer as needed.
. Proactively updates technical skills to maintain and increase competencies with software.
. Investigates and implements new technologies that enhance social media efforts and develops strategies to improve performance.
. Apprises supervisor and co-workers of work status and job-related issues for purpose of finding solutions.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications:
. Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Liberal Arts or related field AND one year experience in development of comprehensive marketing plans or book publishing experience or advertising;
. OR, five years of experience in the development of comprehensive marketing plans or book publishing experience or advertising;
. OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
. Three years experience in online marketing and/or social media.
. Excellent writing, communications and collaboration skills.
. Ability to present creative ideas visually, verbally and in writing.
. Proficiency with social media, especially Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vimeo, YouTube and SoundCloud. Ability to use social media as a tool to engage and market services and programs to students, faculty, staff and community members.
. Basic proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (CS5 and later) Illustrator and Photoshop.
. Knowledge of basic digital photography and digital photo processing techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
. Ability to write grammatically correct, compelling, on-brand and platform-appropriate posts, articles, and communications.
. Knowledge of and experience with digital marketing and publishing tools such as Hootsuite, TweetDeck, ConstantContact, myEmma, etc.
. Experience in multimedia (photography, video, audio).
. Excellent customer relations/service skills.
. Strong time management and organization skills, including strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a work environment constrained by deadlines and multiple priorities.
. Experience supervising, training and mentoring students or interns.
. Understanding of basic business practices, including the ability to organize design projects and to work productively as a team member.
. Enthusiasm for the library's mission to support students, faculty and the community in their academic and lifelong learning pursuits.
Salary/Benefits: $32,498 - $39,307 annually/DOE, plus full benefits.
