ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL VACANCY
POSITION: Program Coordinator, North Carolina Digital Heritage Center (At Will Appointment) AVAILABLE: December 1, 2015 The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Library seeks an experienced, enthusiastic, and collaborative individual for the position of Program Coordinator for the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center. This position will be responsible for general management of a statewide digital library program that provides digitization, digital publishing, and consulting services for more than 180 cultural heritage institutions across North Carolina, and also serves as the statewide service hub for the Digital Public Library of America. The Center is housed in the North Carolina Collection in the University Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Program Coordinator will work closely with staff in the North Carolina Collection, the library's information technology and fiscal services departments, and with the State Library of North Carolina, which provides support for the Center. This position supervises a full-time Digital Projects Librarian and helps to set priorities for a full-time Applications Analyst working for the Center. The Program Coordinator helps to define and promote the services offered by the Center and sets priorities for current and future projects. The person in this position will communicate regularly with cultural heritage professionals across North Carolina about digital library projects. The Coordinator will also prepare budgets and monitor expenditures; prepare grants applications and reports; and publicize and promote the plans and accomplishments of the Center. Travel, including occasional overnight trips will be required. QUALIFICATIONS Required: ALA-accredited MLS. Five or more years of full-time work experience in a library, archives, museum, or other cultural repository with significant experience and accomplishments involving digitization of library, archival, or museum materials. Demonstrated familiarity with digital imaging and metadata standards and practices. Significant experience with outreach and public presentations. Demonstrated successful experience working on collaborative library projects. Commitment to promoting cooperative working relationships between/among multiple repositories. Excellent communication skills. Supervisory experience. Preferred: Experience creating and managing budgets. Experience with grant writing and managing grant-funded projects. Experience managing multi-institutional digital library projects. Familiarity with North Carolina history and culture.
