Job description:



The successful candidate will collaborate with other staff in:

•          Offering guidance in using the full range of Library resources; create tutorials

•          Assisting in providing job information, resume assistance, and computer instruction for job seekers; collaborate with employers in organizing job fairs

•          Providing people experiencing homelessness with referrals to appropriate agencies and organizations

•          Engaging in outreach efforts, such as programs at and visits to senior centers, community organizations’ meetings and events, and public housing sites

•          Cultivating relationships with local businesses

•          Promoting the Library’s English language classes and computer assistance classes

•          For Newark’s older adults: showcasing, in exhibits and programs, their accomplishments, including oral histories; developing intergenerational learning with students in community service programs; teaching about assistive technology

•          Assessing progress in reaching these goals by maintaining statistics and writing reports



Qualifications/Requirements:



Strong public service orientation; familiarity with electronic databases, print reference sources, and social media; excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Applicants must also be able to set up for events and possess the strength to lift and carry materials of up to 25 pounds. Fluency in Spanish and familiarity with the cultures of Spanish speaking people is preferred.



Compensation:   $42,500



This is a part-time contracted 2-year position of 30 hours weekly, including one night per week and alternating Saturdays.
