http://barnard.edu/hr/work-at-barnard/job-openings/administration/digital-archivist Digital Archivist September 12, 2012 Department: Library Employment Group: Administration Date: 9/12/12 Under the direction of the Associate Director, Research & Instructional Services (RIS) and serving within the RIS division of the Barnard Library and Academic Information Services (BLAIS) department, the Digital Archivist will conceive, develop and implement technology related projects for the Barnard College Archives, in addition to providing support for collecting, organizing, maintaining, curating, and making accessible media materials, records and other primary sources relating to Barnard College and its alumnae. They will also assist the Associate Director in managing the day-to-day operations of the Archives, including the hiring, training, and supervising of students, preparing reports, and administering an annual budget for materials and supplies. The Archivist will direct, plan, coordinate, and prepare exhibits, public programs and publications of archival materials and special collections. The Digital Archivist is also a key member of the Research and Instruction team serving as a Personal Librarian to students and faculty in assigned departments. The ideal candidate will have an ALA-accredited master’s degree in library and/or information science with a concentration in Archives and advanced knowledge of American Studies or History. The candidate must have expertise with current practices related to the identification, access, control, organization, and digitization of primary source materials, including metadata schemas, digital processes, institutional repositories, and open access initiatives. They must be able to implement and maintain media and technology projects and be proficient in archival processing and the creation of EAD finding aids. The candidate must be technologically savvy, having a strong understanding of databases and working knowledge of a variety of digital content formats and standards. They should be able to keep abreast of technological developments and to learn new tools quickly.
