(Funding through December 2015.)
We are a supportive community of professionals that provides team members with opportunities to learn and try new tasks, and to take leadership roles within the team and beyond. If you: share our excitement engaging with faculty and students to positively affect their teaching and learning; have an enthusiasm for educational design and exploiting new and emerging technologies in higher education; have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students; and have a passion for learning and for supporting a collaborative work environment, then we encourage you to apply.
RIS is one of four units within Library, Information and Technology Services (LITS). LITS is a responsive and dynamic organization that facilitates the creative and effective use of information and technology for the Mount Holyoke College community. It supports the educational priorities and learning goals of the College by providing instruction, expertise, materials, and equipment to support and positively influence learning, teaching, and research, and to advance the College’s mission.
Collaborate with faculty and others to design, implement and assess the meaningful integration of technology and information skills and tools into teaching and learning activities at the college; serve as liaison to one or more academic departments and support their needs in relation to instructional technology, library research, and collection development; provide library research and instructional technology consultations and instruction in a variety of modes and settings; maintain a high level of customer service to all members of the MHC community; work with the RIS team to create a welcoming environment in which a diverse population of students, faculty and staff can thrive.
Advanced degree required, preferably in education, educational technology, instructional design, or library/information science with an emphasis in instruction and assessment. Also open to other combinations of education and experience such as advanced degrees in academic disciplines and experience teaching at the college level. 3-5 years experience teaching in an academic setting required, either in a classroom setting, in research support, or in an instructional technology capacity.
Demonstrated passion for the teaching and learning process and an understanding of a variety of pedagogical approaches, plus the ability to develop effective learning experiences for students and faculty is essential. Creativity, excellent oral and written communication, flexibility, enthusiasm and the ability and desire to work collaboratively with colleagues required.
Mount Holyoke is committed to fostering diversity and awareness in its faculty, staff, and student body and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Women and persons of color are especially encouraged to apply. The Mount Holyoke campus has grown increasingly diverse over the past fifteen years. We appreciate the complexities of living and working in a diverse world and strive to find ways to redress inequities. We particularly encourage people who share these commitments to submit their application.
Review of applications will begin on December 17th and continue until position is filled.
