POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR
UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON LIBRARIES

Responsibilities:   Reporting to the Head of Metadata and Digitization Services, the successful candidate will provide leadership and expertise in bibliographic resources management for the unit. The Resource Management Coordinator will be responsible for performing ongoing batch process functions including lists creation, global updates, authority reports, and bibliographic record loads from various systems such as Marcive, Serials Solutions, YBP PromptCat, OCLC and the Innovative system. The position will also oversee the quality control activities including management of the bibliographic, item and authority records in the Innovative system; manage records retrieval and labeling process of cataloged materials; supervise and monitor collections transfer/withdrawal projects; oversee the work of serials volumes data input from binding unit; develop and document policies and procedures on the department intranet site; participate in planning, goal-setting, and assessing the effectiveness of staff and operations within the unit. The position supervises the work of 3.5 FTE classified staff employees and 1-2 students.

Librarians hold academic rank pursuant to the University of Houston Librarians’ Bylaws Document. They are expected to develop a record of service, scholarship, and professional involvement. The UH Libraries support the ongoing professional development of librarians and our goal is to recruit librarians committed to continuous learning.

Qualifications:   Required:   Master degree from an ALA-accredited library program. Experience in operating batch processing of records using different systems and applications. Experience with a bibliographic utility or ILS for data exchange, report and global update functions. Thorough knowledge of current resource description standards/formats and OCLC systems and functions. Demonstrated supervisory experience. Excellent teamwork, communication and project management skills.   Preferred: Experience or familiarity with III Sierra, bibliographic authority maintenance, and quality control. Knowledge of FRBR, linked data and semantic web concepts.

Salary:   $56,000 to $59,000 expected hiring range, depending on qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefits package; choice of retirement programs including TIAA-CREF; tax deferred annuity program available; release time to take a class up to 3 hours/week; no state or local income tax.           

Library Information:   The UH Libraries are a member of the Association of Research Libraries, the Greater Western Library Alliance, the Hathi Trust, the Council on Library and Information Resources, the Digital Library Federation, and the Texas Digital Library. The campus libraries provide access to over 3.1 million volumes. Total staff includes 69 professionals and approximately 135 support staff.
