Palmer School of Library and Information Science
In collaboration with the Palmer School Faculty, candidate will develop and teach courses in the area of Information Analytics appropriate for the MSLIS program. Teaching load will be three graduate courses per semester, including core classes, in both online and face-to-face settings. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to contribute to the school’s mission to provide knowledge and skills to prepare students for a role as a 21st century information professional. The successful candidate should have the skills and knowledge needed to develop and teach innovative courses in one or more of the following areas described below, along with a desire to foster strong inter-disciplinary collaboration between the Palmer School and other units of Long Island University in a multi-campus environment.The successful candidate should also possess the ability to implement a research agenda in one or more of the following areas:
•     Information Analytics
•     Big Data (collection, storage and processing, extraction, organization, visualization, and interpretation of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data)
•     Information Architecture

Qualifications:
•     Earned doctorate in library and Information Science or related discipline
•     Demonstrated excellence in teaching
•     Experience in curriculum development
•     Robust research agenda involving (but not limited to) Information Analytics, Big Data, and Information Architecture
•     Knowledge of and experience with the various education delivery modalities and current teaching principles and practices, including discipline-related instructional technology
•     Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and teach individuals from diverse backgrounds, communities and cultures

Special Information: The Palmer School of Library and Information Science at Long Island University, one of the nation’s largest independent universities, invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position. This position represents a unique opportunity to work with diverse populations in a dynamic, multicultural environment within and close to New York City, and to be part of initial explorations related to the iSchool model as part of a transformative vision for the Palmer School. Palmer School offers classes at three locations: LIU Post in Brookville, Palmer Manhattan at NYU’s Bobst Library and LIU Brentwood in Suffolk County. The Palmer School also offers a Ph.D. in Information Studies. This position has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2015.

SALARY: Based on Collective Bargaining Agreement
