POST STAFF and PUBLIC
PART-TIME HOURLY JOBS – INFORMATION DESK

o     WESTERN AREA (Crofton, Maryland City, Severn, Linthicum and Odenton Regional branches); SOUTHERN AREA (Annapolis Regional, Broadneck, Deale, Edgewater, and Eastport branches); and NORTHERN AREA (Brooklyn Park, Glen Burnie Regional, Mountain Road, Riviera Beach, and Severna Park branches) ***Ability to work at all 5 branches in one area is required.***

o     RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide reference and readers’ advisory service; instruct and help customers in the use of library resources.

o     SALARY: $16.49/hr. to start. Annual step increases at the end of the first, second and third year are given based on approved County funding.

o     SCHEDULING: Availability and flexibility required: MUST have good availability weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. AND weekday evenings (excluding Friday) between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., AND good Saturday availability at least once or twice each month. No set schedule or number of hours/week. Work is scheduled on an as-needed, on-call basis. This position may require that you work at least two Sundays per month during the period that libraries are open on Sundays.
              
o     REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree, excellent customer service skills, experience using computer and MS WINDOWS; knowledge of the Internet as a research tool, research-related experience, and ability to learn the Library’s research & circulation systems, policies, and procedures.

o     MANDATORY TRAINING: Ability to attend and successfully complete all of the following training during the months of February and March: Mandatory key training will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on February 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12, 2016; followed by twelve hours of on-the-job training in the branches between February 15 through February 26, 2016; then an additional mandatory key training session will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on February 29, March 1, 2, 3 and 4, 2016. This will be followed by fifteen hours of on-the-job training in the branches between March 7, through March 26, 2016.
