Executive Director-Arapahoe (CO) Library District

Arapahoe Libraries - Transforming lives and enabling access to knowledge through experiences that people have yet to imagine! The Board of Trustees of the Arapahoe Library District seeks a creative and visionary leader—an engaged and energetic administrator—committed to ensuring that the Arapahoe Library District continues to provide innovative library services for this diverse and culturally rich library district. The District was established in 1966 by the Arapahoe County Commissioners and the Deer Trail School Board, but is an independent taxing jurisdiction, governed by an appointed Board of Trustees. The Arapahoe Library District encompasses most of Arapahoe County and provides service to 619,000 suburban and rural residents in the service area. Arapahoe Libraries take great pride in their knowledgeable staff, top-notch facilities, the services they offer, and the information, fun, and entertainment they deliver. With a $32 million annual budget (the result of a successful mill levy increase in 2015) and a staff of 295 (244 FTEs), Arapahoe Libraries welcomed 1.9 million visitors to its eight libraries and its mobile and virtual services, and loaned 4.74 million items last year—and they can’t wait to see where they go from here! The Library District is enthusiastically supported in its efforts by the Arapahoe Library Friends’ Foundation—raising additional funds from the private sector and serving as the District’s advocacy group. The Foundation and the vital Friends of the Arapahoe Library District, support a delightful array of library programs, services and experiences. Are you the exceptional individual ready to lead this dynamic organization? Let’s find out!

And who doesn’t want to be in Arapahoe County/the greater Denver area? With 300 days of sunshine, proximity to the Rocky Mountains, outdoor recreational activities such as skiing, biking, and hiking, a thriving arts and cultural scene, and exciting professional and college sports teams—the locals all attest—and science backs them up—The sky really is bluer in Colorado. More than 631,000 people call Arapahoe County, the third largest county in Colorado, home. It’s a county of contrasts—the western part of the County is mostly urban/suburban with residential, retail, office and industrial areas, while the eastern portion is relatively rural. Arapahoe County claims some of the nation's largest high tech and communication companies. The Denver Tech Center and Centennial Airport are vital to the area’s healthy economy and provide thousands of jobs to area residents. With nine school districts, a wide variety of housing choices, and a moderate cost of living, people enjoy a local quality of life that includes excellent parks, greenbelts and trail systems, fine food, a healthy lifestyle and superior public services.
