The Pennsylvania State University Libraries invite applications and nominations for a tenure-track Reference and Instruction Librarian at the Thun Library, Penn State Berks campus. We seek a proactive and creative librarian to provide general and specialized reference services. Duties of this position include collaborating with colleagues at Berks and across the Libraries in planning, delivery, and evaluation of library instruction and reference services. The position serves as liaison to the Engineering, Business, & Computing (EBC) Division, as well as to the Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development at Berks. Major responsibilities include course-related and course-integrated library instruction, in-person and virtual reference service; development of print and web-based research and instructional materials; consultation with faculty to support their research and course development; participation in collection development with responsibility for building and maintaining collections across the EBC Division; participation in the review and development of library policies and procedures; and participation in faculty governance and University service. Requirements: Requires a MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program (or equivalent); experience with reference and course-integrated library instruction; demonstrated ability to build partnerships to enhance learning and student success; excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; demonstrated potential to achieve the requirements for tenure and promotion in the areas of librarianship, research, and service; and a strong commitment to diversity, equity, respect and inclusion. Some evening and/or weekend work is required.

Penn State Berks is located in suburban Reading, PA. Student enrollment at the campus is a mix of approximately 2900 full and part-time students, with just over 800 of those students residing in on-campus residence halls. The small campus environment allows for a comprehensive learning experience with the high standards of a major research university. Penn State Berks offers 21 baccalaureate degree programs, 6 associate degree programs, 22 academic minors, and the first two years of coursework for more than 160 Penn State majors that can be completed at other Penn State campuses.

Compensation and Benefits: This is a tenure-track faculty position. Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience. In addition, faculty in the University Libraries are afforded funds for professional development travel annually. Faculty may be asked to travel as official representatives of the Libraries to certain events and those trips are reimbursed at full cost within limits established by the University.
