Explore… the possibility of becoming the next Library Director/Fiscal Officer for Rodman Public Library! The Board of Trustees of the Rodman Public Library seeks an outgoing, talented and dynamic leader to create a strong vision and promote library services to the greater Alliance community. The Director will provide quality leadership, direct and support staff, and bring new ideas and exciting innovation to the Library. Rodman Public Library, located in Alliance, Ohio, serves the 37,478 residents of the Alliance City and Marlington Local school districts. Governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees, the two library locations and bookmobile provide excellent services and programs with 34FTE staff and a $2.3 million annual budget. The Library successfully passed a 1.5-mill levy renewal in 2015 providing 40% of the library operating expenses.

The city of Alliance , the “Carnation City,” is located in northeast Stark County, Ohio. Alliance provides a family-friendly, small town lifestyle with nearby city amenities (Canton/Akron, Cleveland and Pittsburgh are a short drive away). Local residents will find excellent public and parochial schools, strong neighborhoods, and affordable housing. The University of Mount Union, Malone University, Walsh University, Kent State University Stark Campus, and Stark State offer higher education opportunities. Sports fans will enjoy close proximity to many stellar professional baseball, football and basketball teams as well as the nearby Pro Football Hall of Fame. Responsibilities . The Library Director/Fiscal Officer oversees and directs the management, activities and services of the Rodman Public Library according to the policies, bylaws, and directives established by the Board of Trustees and the laws of the state; is responsible for staffing and staff and Board development; the provision of exceptional public service delivery; marketing and fund development; advocacy; and budgeting and planning. The Director oversees the fiscal management of the Library and attends all meetings of the Board of Trustees, community groups and any other agencies as needed in order to further the goals of the Rodman Public Library and the greater Alliance community. Qualifications. Preferred qualifications include: An MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited library school program and five years or more of progressively responsible work experience in public library supervision and management, or equivalent background and experience that will enable the candidate to perform effectively the work required. Excellent interpersonal and communication/listening skills; skill leading a diverse team of library professionals in setting and achieving goals; a thorough knowledge of financial management and budgeting; experience in working with a library levy campaign; ability to work with a governing board; and an understanding of philosophy and trends in the library and information technology fields with the ability to effectively apply them locally. A willingness to live in the Alliance community and successful experience reporting to a governing board is strongly preferred.

Compensation . The starting salary range is $70,000 to $85,000 (with placement dependent upon experience and qualifications) with an attractive benefits package.
