BROWARD COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
LIBRARIES DIVISION LIBRARIAN- SPECIAL COLLECTIONS AND ARCHIVING - FULL TIME POSITION Salary Range - $ 44,975.98 - $71,781.73 per year (dependent upon qualifications) Broward County, Board of County Commissioners is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Librarian Full Time working the special collections section at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC). AARLCC serves as an integral part of the community, offering classes in computer technology and educational, recreational, and cultural programs on a regular basis. The purpose of this position is to plan, supervise and coordinate the activities of a service section. This includes supervising staff, project or program coordination cultivating outreach efforts, and supporting division-wide initiatives. This position is also responsible for collection development, youth and adult reference services, programs and readers advisory. The selected candidate in this position must have the abilities to manage multiple priorities, tasks and work effectively; both independently and collaboratively, display excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills, demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and exhibit a solid commitment to creativity and continuous learning, including the ability to learn new technologies. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for arranging and describing archival collections, including knowledge of relevant descriptive standards (DACS, EAD, EAC-CPF). Additional duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with cataloging of collections; assisting in the location of new materials to include their acquisitions; displaying the coordination of educational and public outreach programs such as, tours, workshops, lectures and classes; and assist in the set-up of exhibits and related events that showcase collections. Requirements: Requires a Master's degree from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association in Library Science, Library and Information Science, or closely related field. Preferences: Masters' degree or higher in Archival Studies Certificate in Archival Studies One (1) year or more experience in organizing archival records and developing classification systems to facilitate access to archival materials Participation in courses focused on current practices in archiving through workshops, seminars, or webinars (recent certificate received for participation) Two (2) or more years cataloging archival experience How to Apply: Please apply on-line at www.broward.org/careers.
