Job Duties: Oversees the development of policies and programs for the Mary and Jeff Bell Library. Coordinates
all library activities, projects, programs and services. Coordinates the human resources program within the library,
including recruitment, evaluation, development and retention of a diverse and highly qualified staff.
Administers, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the planning and assessment activities of the library. Actively
participates in university strategic planning and assessment efforts. Ensures effective communication within the
library and with the campus community and other stakeholders. Serves as records retention officer for the campus.
Administers budget for the library to ensure effective use of resources in the provision of resources and services.
Develops and implements procedures to ensure the safety of library collections. Participates in scholarly/creative
and professional service activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: ALA accredited Master's degree in Library Science or the equivalent. Five (5) years professional
library experience, including demonstrated increasing supervisory and administrative responsibility. Additional
education may be used to substitute for the minimum experience requirement. Experience in strategic planning in
the library context, as well as in assessment of library programs, operations and services in a university context.
Experience with assessment documentation software. Experience with institutional repositories. Budgeting and
facility management experience. Working knowledge of records retention and management. Knowledge of
copyright rules and changing copyright requirements and licensing for use of materials in classroom instruction,
electronic reserve, interlibrary loan, and web based course management tools. Knowledge of the impact of ADA
requirements on the library service environment, physical space, and access to physical and electronic collections.
Ability to work with a diverse constituency of students, faculty and staff across all academic and administrative units
with the University.
Preferred Qualifications: Second advanced degree (master's or Ph.D.). Active service in library professional
organizations. Evidence of consistent intellectual growth and involvement in scholarly and creative activities.
Demonstrated understanding of the role of social media and mobile applications in the academic library
environment. Experience with enterprise accounting systems as they relate to management of library budgets.
Knowledge of and experience in meeting the library resource, program and service needs of first generation and
underserved populations. Experience in the development and management of institutional repositories.
