STAFF OPENING – POST STAFF and PUBLIC
     â€¢     REGULAR STAFF – AUTOMOTIVE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR – 1 Opening Library Headquarters – Maintenance Department
     â€¢     Grade 8FB – 40 hour/week (Limited O/T)
     â€¢     Salary Range: $26,629 - $38,615
     â€¢     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in the operation and servicing of light and medium cargo trucks and educational training that results in knowledge of simple arithmetic and a reading and writing level necessary for successful job performance; or an equivalent combination of experience and training that has provided the knowledge, abilities and skills listed in the job description.
     â€¢     NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid non-commercial class C motor vehicle operator's license issued by the State of Maryland with proof of a good driving record.
     â€¢     RESPONSIBILITIES: This is automotive equipment operation in the safe and prompt collection and delivery of library materials by cargo trucks; responsibility for the safe operation of automotive equipment in loading, collecting, delivering, and unloading library and other materials within the library system. Provides assistance as requested during building and weather emergencies to return building to safe and accessible condition for public and staff. May assist with building and grounds maintenance as necessary in the absence of a custodian.

POST STAFF and PUBLIC
LIBRARY JOB OPENING - CUSTODIAN - 1 Opening – Full-time
3 days a week at:      MOUNTAIN ROAD LIBRARY

2 days a week at:     Various Library Branch locations throughout the County, but no more than one site on each of those days (see attached list)
     â€¢     40 Hours/Week     Grade 6F      Salary: $24,153 - $34,982        Benefits Package Included
Responsibilities: This is manual work of limited complexity in cleaning and maintaining library buildings; caring for and maintaining grounds, including basic care of lawns and landscaping; exterior maintenance, including snow and ice control; and performing minor maintenance and repair tasks, such as changing light bulbs and limited emergency adjustments to buildings and fixtures.
Minimum Qualifications: One year of general custodial experience and educational training that results in knowledge of general arithmetic and a reading and writing level necessary for successful job performance; or an equivalent combination of experience and training that has provided the knowledge, abilities, and skills listed on the job description. Possession of a valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license issued by the State of Maryland and a good driving record with proof of a good driving record. A personal vehicle is necessary for transportation to the Mountain Road Library and to the branch locations assigned two days a week.

FAMILY LITERACY LIAISON – 1 Opening – Headquarters
     â€¢     Regular Staff – Fulltime – 37.5 hours/week
     â€¢     Salary Range – $38,192 - $55,644   Grade – 14GA

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with Bachelor's degree awarded with two years of experience working in a library and/or educational setting and experience in personnel supervision.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Proficiency in Spanish required.
Attainment of eligibility under Bylaw 1305.04.03 of the Maryland State Board of Education as Library Associate and complete Library Associate Training Institute within 24 months following appointment; and ability to maintain eligibility by completing 90 contact hours of training every 5 years.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This is varied, responsible para-professional work providing library services, including reference, readers' advisory, programming and outreach, and library instruction to the public of all ages. The majority of time is spent providing outreach to targeted populations and working on system-wide projects. Work requires public speaking skills and maintaining considerable expertise in early literacy and in the use of information technology, including, but not limited to: databases, email, blogs, and the internet.   Work is performed under the supervision of the Programming & Outreach Coordinator using established guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associates Degree supplemented with at least three years of work experience in the following areas: personnel supervision, training and development, automated circulation systems, and the daily operations of a large public library system; or an equivalent combination of experience and training that has provided the knowledge, abilities and skills listed on the job description.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This is advanced and highly responsible para-professional work overseeing the Library’s borrower services. Work involves oversight and development of circulation policies and procedures, coordinating circulation services, providing training and professional development to staff and other duties as assigned. Responsibilities extend to administrative tasks related to required recordkeeping, as well as participation in formulating and executing goals and objectives for these programs.
