The City of San Mateo is now recruting for Librarian I/II. This recruitment will fill three full-time positions in adult/teen and children’s services.
The Position:
Librarian I - This is the entry-level classification in the professional Librarian series. This classification is distinguished from the Librarian II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series. Assignments are generally limited in scope and within the design and procedural framework established by higher level employees.
Librarian II - This is the journey level class within the professional Librarian series. Work in this classification is distinguished from that of a Librarian I by the greater complexity of the assignments received. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. Appointment to the higher class requires that the employee be performing substantially the full range of duties for the classification and meet the qualification standards for the class.

Experience:
Librarian I Level
Previous public library experience desirable but not required.
Librarian II Level
Two years of professional library experience comparable to that of a Librarian I in the City of San Mateo.
Training & Education:
Possession of a Master of Library Science degree from an American Library Association accredited college or university.
