Job Description

This position contributes to Content, Access and Delivery Services with primary responsibilities involving digitization of print materials, digital capture of audio and video content, and management of the Print Reserves collection. The position supervises student employees’ production work in the unit. The position reports to the Course Reserves Digital Media Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities

·        Student Supervision: Hire and directly supervise 3-4 student employees, including conducting performance evaluations. Create effective training and documentation to ensure student employees’ understanding of Course Reserves processes. Oversee quality assurance efforts to ensure Course Reserves materials meet quality and accessibility standards.

·        Electronic Reserves and Streaming Media: Use software and hardware to convert library-owned and other content into formats that can be used in NAU courses. Use library tools and systems to find articles, media and other requested resources. As needed, borrow materials from other institutions. Use OCR software to prepare documents for use in online courses. Use digitization technologies to create streaming media files. Deliver content through Blackboard Learn and Kaltura Video Platform. Manage workflows and track requests.

·        Print Reserves: Create course reading lists and attach item records in the library services platform. De-process Print Reserves and return faculty/department-owned items at the end of each semester. Maintain accurate records of all materials on the Print Reserves shelves.

·        Communication: Manage department emails and phones during regular business hours. Respond to faculty requests and issues in a timely and professional manner. Contact appropriate departments for troubleshooting assistance as needed.

·        Shared Resources: Oversee local repositories of streaming video and Electronic Reserves files. Use strong metadata to describe files for tracking and discovery purposes. Support the use of licensed resources in Blackboard Learn and other NAU and CCC Learning Management Systems. Promote the use of Open Educational Resources to accommodate unfilled requests.

·        User Services: Provide direct user service either at the Main Service Desk or by responding to user questions through Chat, including questions and concerns from students, faculty, staff and guest users. Demonstrate flexibility, good judgment, a commitment to excellence in customer service, and a comprehensive understanding of Cline Library services, policies, and operations.

·        Other: Participate in cross-training and provide back-up and support for other positions. Proactively assess, prioritize, coordinate and communicate to accomplish unit needs. Participate in the cross-training and supervision of student employees. Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to participation in a variety of Library projects and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND two years progressively responsible related library experience; OR,
Six years progressively responsible library, information center, or related work experience; OR,
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with digitization of print and media materials.
Experience working in Blackboard Learn or other Learning Management Systems.
Experience with library systems such as Ex Libris, OCLC, and ILLiad.
Experience implementing technical systems or working with emerging technologies.
Experience generating content accessible to users with disabilities.
Experience applying copyright best practices to duplicate protected materials.

The starting salary range for this position is $38,186 to $40,186.
The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
