Columbia University Libraries is seeking applications for the position of Law Cataloger at the Diamond Law Library.

Reporting to the Head of the Cataloging Unit, the Law Cataloger will perform original and complex copy-cataloging of books and serials in various formats in English and foreign languages using OCLC and local system. The Law Cataloger will provide accurate bibliographic description with correct access points through authority work and will assign classification numbers using local and LC call number schemes. The incumbent will perform bibliographic review using metadata editing software before loading files into the local ILS and will participate in the administrative routine of the Law Library and the Columbia University Libraries including internal and external committee work, preparing narrative and statistical reports.

The Law Library participates in BIBCO, NACO and SACO.

Minimum Qualifications:
-MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or Ph.D. or equivalent
-Working knowledge of cataloging principles and procedures, including RDA, MARC21, LC subject headings and classification.
-Working knowledge of at least 2 European languages, preferably with German.
-Knowledge of RDA, LCSH, Classification Web and Cataloger's Desktop
-Some cataloging experience in an academic library

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience in OCLC Connexion Client
-Some experience in name authority work
-Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, initiative, and flexibility
