West Chester University Libraries seek an outgoing, innovative, and highly collaborative librarian to join our faculty as the Business Librarian. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position.
This librarian will serve as the liaison to multiple undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Business and Public Management. We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about fostering new relationships and building partnerships. We are especially looking for an engaging teacher who will expand the University Libraries’ instruction program within this college. This position will require occasional travel to WCU regional sites that host business programs.

The University Libraries are in the process of developing a new strategic plan. Once priorities have been established, this position will also be assigned a secondary, library-wide role. Some areas under consideration are data management, open education resources, and grant writing. As a tenure-track faculty librarian, active participation in the intellectual and administrative life of the Libraries and University and maintaining a record of professional contribution is expected.

Responsibilities

               Business Subject Specialist
?        Serves as the University Libraries’ liaison to the undergraduate departments of Accounting, Economics and Finance, Management, and Marketing, as well as the Master of Business Administration and Master and Doctor of Public Administration programs.

?        Evaluates and selects electronic resources and other materials to support student and faculty research.

?        Provides in-depth research assistance and instruction for departments named above.

?        Provides in-person, chat, email, and telephone support at the Research Help Desk during assigned day, evening, and weekend hours.



Continuing Scholarly Growth
?        Demonstrates continued professional growth through publications, presentations, professional activities, and other contributions to advance the profession.

?        Engages in scholarship that includes research, scholarly, or creative activities required for tenure and promotion.


Service
?     Provides service to the library, the university, and the profession through committee work, conference attendance, or similar endeavors.

?        Participates in library and university governance (shared governance).



Minimum Qualifications:
?        An earned Master’s in Library Science (MLS) or equivalent from an American Library Association accredited institution.

?        Minimum 2 years professional experience in an academic library.

?        A degree in a business field or prior experiences as a business librarian or prior relevant experience in a corporate/business environment.

?        Demonstrated experience delivering instruction in business.

?        In-depth knowledge of academic business databases and other resources.

?        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

?        Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a collegial academic environment.

?        Proven ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, faculty, and staff.

?        Successful completion of an on-campus interview process that includes a teaching demonstration.


Preferred Qualifications:
?        Second master’s or advanced degree in a related field.

?        Demonstrated experience with reference and instruction in an academic library.

?        Background/experience with data management, open educational resources, grant writing, or other services that support the wider university community.

?        Experience with developing online learning objects or delivering online instruction.
