Access Services Librarian

Reports to the Donald B. Watt Library Director and works in close collaboration with the Discovery and Access Manager.

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

Creates and manages digital assets, such as: DigitalCollections, instructional videos, and interactive online tutorials. Designs and develops a technical infrastructure for the digital repository and monitors digitization trends and developments.
Manages the adoption, implementation, and review of new technologies and methods to ensure quality of cataloging, metadata, and access to library services.
Supervises and trains library staff in the technical processing of all materials for the library collection.
Maintains and upgrades the cataloging interface module and the OCLC system interface to ensure bibliographic and item records are complete, accurate, and current.
Develops new discovery tools for enhanced access to local, national, and international collections.
Manages library acquisitions for reserves and interlibrary loan for purchase services.
Provides reference and research assistance and library instruction to on-campus and off-campus students via email, phone and IM chat.
Develops electronic training materials and research guides that focus on library databases and services.
Creates and maintains content on library website.
Manages Document Delivery (Interlibrary loan, commercial document suppliers, table of contents, etc.).
Responsible for collection development in assigned subject areas by evaluating collections and materials, serving as faculty liaison in assigned subjects, and recommending new purchases and licenses for online resources.
Manages Circulation Services (utilizing all aspects of Koha and ILLIAD), including stacks and reserves management, patron account creation and modification, collection retrieval and delivery for virtual patrons. Will also staff the circulation desk.
Oversee all aspects of the physical space and its maintenance and operations
Participate in the promotion of collection; assists with library marketing and outreach activities.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications

Required:
Master’s Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science from an accredited institution. If currently in graduate school, must complete degree within one semester of hire.
Ability to work weekends and evening hours.
Ability to work effectively with remotely based patrons and with a diverse population from the U.S. and abroad.

Preferred:
Minimum of two years of library experience.
Previous experience with Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services, Koha, and Springshare software (LibGuides, LibCal, LibAnswers, LibChat).
Fluency in one or more foreign languages.
Experience in project and digital assets management.
Experience in Library Instruction.
Student worker supervision.
