The Triangle Research Libraries Network (TRLN) (http://www.trln.org/) seeks a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and collaborative librarian to serve as Program Officer for collections-related consortial activities. The TRLN Program Officer will manage and support the work of the TRLN councils and task groups to explore and solve some of the complex issues facing academic libraries today. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with talented and motivated staff across four research institutions to support long-standing cooperative collection development activities.

Reporting to the TRLN Executive Director, the person in this position will support consortium-wide activities and initiatives of the Collections Council. A chief concern of this Council (http://www.trln.org/committee/CollectionCouncil/index.htm) is addressing the challenges and constraints of e-resources relative to print. The Program Officer will support the Collaborative Print Retention Program through which TRLN members share retention and storage of print materials. The Program Officer will support the consortium-wide licensing of electronic resources and the work of the Electronic Resources Committee (http://www.trln.org/eresource/index.htm). This individual will also provide support to large-scale digitization projects. The Program Officer will communicate the activities of these groups within the consortium and to a broader national audience.

The TRLN staff includes the Executive Director, an administrative assistant, a Program Officer and a TRLN Project Coordinator employed on a grant-supported project. This is a team environment that provides support for the broad spectrum of initiatives and activities of the consortium, its standing councils, and its programs and services. TRLN staff members organize seminars and symposia for the TRLN libraries’ staff on various topics, manage on-going communications, and coordinate strategic planning.

Familiarity with trends in collection development and management. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
