THE POSITION:
The Library Technician is the experienced level class of this series, fully competent to perform a wide range of circulation, public contact and library service support duties using and online library system; and is distinguished from the Senior Library Technician in that the latter performs technical library support services in a specialized area. Incumbents exercise some independence of judgment in the application of library policies and performance of patron services and are expected to handle some technical reference or advisory service questions.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: The physical abilities involved in the performance of essential duties are:
Climbing, reaching, stooping and kneeling to shelve books and locate materials; lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds; manual dexterity to operate keyboards and other library equipment; speech and hearing to communicate with library patrons; vision sufficient to read computer screens and fine text. This work is performed indoors in a library environment.

HOURS:
During each semester(Spring and Summer ): Monday – Thursday 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM and Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM;
Non-semester hours (summer and winter intersession) Monday – Thursday (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) and Friday (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM).

The Digital Conversion Production Manager works in a team environment for creating and deploying online collections, and oversees the Digital Conversion Unit (DCU) within the Digital Library Production Service (DLPS). The DCU is responsible for digital conversion of library collections, working with monograph, serial, newspaper, photograph, and manuscript collections. The DCU converts on average 5,000 volumes per year, and is committed to high-volume, efficient digitization. The DCU also works closely with the Scholarly Publishing Office (SPO) on digitizing materials to be published by SPO, and the DCU staff work closely with library selectors, archivists and special collections librarians in developing cost estimates for digitization projects.

The Digital Library Production Service (DLPS), a part of the University of Michigan University Library, is UM’s key organization for creation, deployment and support of local digital library collections. DLPS, with over 20 FTE, including librarians, computing professionals, and support staff, provides production-level support for digital library collections in a number of subject areas and formats. Online collection resources include significant image-and text-based journal collections, art image collections, and a leading edge XML development effort. Staff members within DLPS assume responsibility for access mechanisms, data loading, security, accounting and billing mechanisms, as well as creation and conversion activities. DLPS provides these services to the University of Michigan as well as other institutions, and works with consortia such as the Digital Library Federation (DLF) and the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) to advance the development of sound digital libraries.

Under the supervision of the Head of DLPS, the Digital Conversion Production Manager supervises a unit of 6 professionals, and part-time workers and student assistants, including technicians for digital capture and conversion of textual materials and continuous tone images. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating departmental priorities and long-range unit planning with the Head of the Digital Library Production Service.

The Digital Conversion Production Manager develops and maintains a productive and cost effective processing operation which is responsive to the needs of other library units and library users. Establishes and analyzes statistical measurements of productivity. Plans and oversees development of new production formats and workflows based on emerging Library priorities. Plans and implements effective quality control methods for ensuring accurate and reliable digital conversion. As part of the library’s partnership with Google to digitize the library’s collections, the incumbent performs analysis of specifications, and manages the digitization of materials not digitized by Google.

The DCU constantly strives to provide the most efficient, cost-effective and highest quality methods of digitization of library collections. The DCU works with units throughout the library system to digitize library collections, including rare and valuable materials, such as papyri, maps and rare books, as well as damaged library materials. The DCU monitors its quality control processes to reduce errors and provide high quality digital objects for the library’s large online collections.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Applies creative thinking, experience, technical expertise, and knowledge of the information needs of users to the provision of access to electronic resources. Participates in the ongoing design and development of library-wide systems, workflows, and policies for managing electronic resources. Monitors trends in emerging technologies, copyright, and licensing. Keeps current with developments in electronic products and services, including the use of open source software to manage electronic resources.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: ALA accredited Masters Degree in Library or Information Science; three to five (3-5) years of experience in a large academic library; ability to work collaboratively in a complex, culturally diverse organizational setting; excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated analytical skills; knowledge of and/or experience in the management of electronic resources; knowledge of electronic services and Web environments; knowledge of contemporary practices, issues, and trends for managing electronic resources.

Desired: Experience working with federated search tools, open URL access, link resolvers, Electronic Resource Management systems, e-cataloging standards, non-MARC metadata, vendor supplied bibliographic records. Conversant with basic techniques for local digitization and management of information resources, including the methods for maintaining an institutional repository.

The Special Collections Research Center of The George Washington University invites applications for a librarian position to direct the Public Services and Outreach operations for the Special Collections Research Center in the Gelman Library System. The Special Collections Research Center actively collects materials in American History, with emphases on African-Americana, American Labor History, and Washingtoniana; Literary Studies; Judaica and Hebraica; Broadcast Media and Journalism; and the history of The George Washington University and the surrounding Foggy Bottom neighborhood. Its collections include organizational records, personal papers, rare books, diaries, scrapbooks, photographs, association records, cartographic materials, cartoons, handbills and posters. The Special Collections Research Center presents lectures, special events, book signings and exhibits, and maintains exhibit cases.

The Public Services and Outreach Librarian will be responsible for educational outreach to the professors, graduate students, and undergraduates who do or may potentially use Special Collections materials. This outreach will take the form of direct contact with faculty whose research interests overlap with the holdings of the Special Collections Research Center, as well as the use of blogs, Wikis, and other technologies and innovative approaches. The Librarian will also collaborate with colleagues from the Gelman Library's main Reference and Instruction units to coordinate instruction on the use of Special Collections materials and occasionally assist the Exhibit Developer with on-site and web-based exhibits.

The Librarian will be responsible for managing the day-to-day public services operations and, in consultation with the Director of the Special Collections Research Center, the development and implementation of policies and procedures to manage reference services, reprographic services, supervision of the reading room, and supervision of holdings maintenance activities including processing books and periodicals and stacks maintenance. The Librarian is responsible for hiring, training and scheduling student support staff to assist in these activities, maintaining a portion of the departmental budget for support staff, as well as processing all the appropriate personnel-related paper-work. The Librarian will be responsible for other duties including but not limited to serving as lead person for technical matters relating to circulation of materials, handling course reserves, serving as liaison to inter-library services, administering policies governing use, reproduction, and preservation of materials. This position reports to the Director of the Special Collections Research Center.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Appropriate academic background (MLS from an ALA-accredited library school and/or advanced degree in a Humanities, Social Science or related subject area). Coursework or training in archival management and/or a demonstrated understanding of research use of archives and manuscripts. Relevant job experience at an archive or special collections department. Supervisory experience.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA: Thorough knowledge of archival public services and outreach practices and initiatives; strong communication, organizational and project management skills. Minimum of two years professional work experience in an archive or special collections department. A second master's degree in American history is highly desirable in applicants with the MLS.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED:
High energy and interpersonal skills to handle a variety of reference inquiries is desirable. Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as conceptual skills essential to outreach program.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Branch Library Manager reports to the Assistant Director of Public Services. The position supervises a staff of 20 professionals, clerical and support staff. It oversees the quality of reference, reader’s advisory, information, referral and circulation services to the public and coordinates collection development activity. The neighborhoods in which branches are located consist of many community groups, organizations and schools that are deeply committed to their branch libraries and the branch manager ensures that outreach efforts respond to their interests and needs.

Other activities include: monitoring budgets, providing for collection development and maintenance, and short- and long-range development of Library services in the Library unit. Incumbents: assist in the selection of staff, may schedule, train, supervise and evaluate Librarian and clerical staff, assist in the development of branch or regional goals, develop procedures to implement objectives, facilitate the purchase of needed materials, coordinate various activities with others in the Library, and may perform other duties as assigned. THE BEACON HILL AND INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT/CHINATOWN BRANCHES
Both branches are located in two of the most diverse communities of Seattle in close proximity to the core of the city. The two branches are designated magnet World Language sites and have many bi-lingual staff members. The architecturally striking 10,400 square foot Beacon Hill branch serves a largely single-family residential neighborhood, with increasing densification occurring. Its central location and easy access attracts many users to its meeting room for assorted community activities and library programs for all ages, to the general collection of 40,000 items, to an array of PC stations with Internet connections, and to its emphasis services of ESL and World Language interests. The International District/Chinatown (IDC) branch is a tenancy, 3800 square foot facility in a mixed-use complex that includes family housing and a community center next door. This neighborhood has a long history as the heart of Seattle’s Asian immigrant community, and includes many small businesses, restaurants, and service agencies drawing clientele from across the metropolitan area. The IDC staff is engaged in continuous outreach and partnership activities and offers programs for all ages. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Public services and collection management: Develop, deliver and continually evaluate and improve services. Coordinate branch services with The Seattle Public Library’s system wide priorities and resources. Participate in and coordinate branch collection development and maintenance with the Technical and Collection Services staff, and ensure that the Library’s standards and procedures are fully implemented. Provide reference and other public services at service desks.

Staff supervision: Develop and guide staff toward the highest standards of customer service. Supervise staff and evaluate performance. Develop challenging work assignments and oversee the accomplishment of work plans. Oversee the selection, training, performance appraisal and recognition, discipline, and professional development of branch staff. Administer the labor agreement and human resources policies and procedures.

Community outreach: Maintain effective working partnerships with schools, community groups, neighborhood planning groups, civic agencies, and library user groups. Identify emerging needs for new library services and set goals and priorities accordingly. Represent the Library to the neighbor-hood and to community groups and individuals.

Branch operations: Oversee building and property management functions and coordinate branch operations with other departments and divisions including Facilities, Security, Information Technology, the Business Office, and Public Services administration

Hardin Library for the Health Sciences: The Hardin Library for the Health Sciences serves the combined information and research needs of the Colleges of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics (including related allied-health education programs), and the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology. The Electronic Collections Department
The Head of Electronic Collections will lead and be an active member of a growing Electronic Collections Department, communicating regularly with library staff at many levels and in many departments. As appropriate, this department leads, coordinates and/or supports the system wide collecting and conversion of electronic and digital collections through the Yale University Library. The YUL is actively acquiring online resources including journals, databases, online books, and other online resources, and is exploring archiving electronic content, and collaborating in converting traditional formats to digital formats. The collections funds spent on electronic resources have increased by more than 30% a year; the current number of full-text serial titles is over 63,000; the number of databases exceeds 1,100; and the number of online books is over 800,000. Expansive growth of e-resources continues. Electronic Collections staff work together as a team to provide appropriate services to a large library system as appropriate, in centralized and decentralized aspects.

General Purpose
The Director of Electronic Collections provides vision, managerial leadership and knowledge in support of collections development for e-resources. Working closely with subject specialists and a broad range of other library staff, users, and suppliers, this position leads a dynamic team and provides policy and other significant guidance to the entire Library system with a complex array of needs and service patterns.

Serves as a resource for public, technical and/or administrative services. Plans, organizes, communicates, and administers the programs of service to users and potential users of the Library’s materials and services. Administers programs covering a range of library operations. Administers, supervises and plans for operations of a department. Defines priorities for use of library resources and/or performance of library functions. Contributes to long range departmental and library planning. Responsibilities
This position facilitates access to collections and services of a complex, multi-faceted research/academic library through direct contact with library patrons and/or through the development of collections and their bibliographic identification. Contributes to improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of the scholarly collections system. Develops, implements, and/or administers department/library policy and procedures which provides access to the Yale University Library collections and which allows for the cooperative exchange of resources between Yale and other Universities and information networks. Participates in and contributes to library long-term planning and is professionally active in library, scholarly and/or academic organizations. Represents the library and the University in the academic and professional community by serving on various committees and task forces.

This position reports to the AUL for Collections and International Programs and is responsible for overall management of the activities of Electronic Collections Department (including international e-collections), with a total of 9.5 FTE plus student support.

The position includes:

I. Oversight of budget and space issues; backup and final authority role for all departmental activities; staff issues such as training, department orientations, intern hosting, short and long term library fellows; and identifying opportunities for grants, as appropriate.

II. Serving as Selector Coordinator/Fund Manager for library e-resources that cross more than two libraries or subject areas, including responsibility for: the CERF (Central Electronic Resources Fund) budget of approximately $900,000; management of system wide e-resource selection decision-making; leadership of CoDGer, the E-Collections policy making group across YUL; coordinating Yale participation in NERL (NorthEast Research Libraries Consortium); and oversight of the CoDGeR Web site and E-Coll policies Web site.

III. Management of policy making and communications for selection and handling of shared and cross-disciplinary e-resources, including: leading exploration of overarching issues in the selection and care of e-resources; developing and/or managing development of best practices for e-collecting; communicating across YUL about e-resources broad issues; and funneling renewal information on shared resources to relevant stakeholders as appropriate and ensuring appropriate action

IV. Leading the license review, negotiating, and compliance processes, which may be done by E-Collections staff and/or a broader team, for example: coordinating authentication and authorization issues for e-resources; communicating as appropriate with vendors, selectors, AUL, and others; coordinating investigation and responses to license breach reports, in consultation with ITS and AUL; and participating as appropriate in e-resource trouble shooting activities.

V. ERM (Electronic Resources Management system, Verde software) "parent," with ultimate authority for this new activity, which is delegated to others and/or coordinated across the YUL system.

VI. International E-Programs, where the Head may exercise a YUL leadership or representation role in a trio of UN Access Projects (HINARI, OARE, and AGORA), as well as others, including the grant funded Middle Eastern Project (primarily AMEEL). Duties may include coordinating Library participation in OARE (Online Access to Research in the Environment); managing YUL contribution to content and other aspects of international projects; supporting database management and maintenance of the WHO's HINARI; participation as a team leader for US Department of Education Title VI projects.

Qualifications
Graduate degree in Library and/or Information Science from an ALA accredited program or its equivalent in experience and related education and five years of professional experience and accomplishment.

For appointment to LIV requires eight years of professional experience and accomplishments; appointment to LV requires twelve years of professional experience and accomplishment.

With a staff of 32 full time employees and a large number of student workers, these units encompass circulation, stacks maintenance, security/safety services, interlibrary loan, document delivery services (Books By Mail, Request Delivery, and Request Article Delivery), electronic reserves, and off-site storage, processing and delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to the Associate Dean for Public Services, the Head, Customer and Access Services provides leadership for the IUB Libraries in the development and implementation of personalized, customer-focused services for the physical/digital delivery of print, image, and other resources to meet the evolving needs of a new generation of library users. The incumbent will provide strategic and effective management of the four units of the Customer and Access Services Department to continually seek innovative ways to deliver information; work with members of Public Services and Library Information Technologies to embed services into the Libraries’ web site and integrated library system; and work with the Associate Dean for Collection Development and Digital Publishing to explore delivery options as part of a collection development strategy, support the Libraries’ digitization efforts and set priorities for the relocation of collections to off-site storage. Position Definition
Reporting to the Dean of Instruction, the Director of Library Services is responsible for managing all Library programs and services to meet the information requirements of the students and staff of Monterey Peninsula College. Experience with network administration tools, database applications and programming languages; knowledge of PC/network hardware and troubleshooting required. Experience with one-on-one instruction, supervisory experience and one year of experience working in a library environment preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

Reference, Instruction, and Collection Development:
Provide general reference services in the sciences. Provide extended assistance through consultations both in Science Library and offsite, especially questions about data. Serve as selector for chemistry and molecular biology. Participate in classroom instruction, workshops, orientations, tours, etc. Participate in developing and teaching credit courses relating to scientific informatics, and to data management, curation, retrieval, and use. Actively promote library resources and services, and be a channel of communication between the library and faculty, students, and staff in assigned departments, including meeting with new faculty members, attending departmental meetings and seminars, and monitoring faculty and graduate student listservs.

Library, Campus and Professional Development and Service: Manage or participate in other library activities and special projects, especially those involving new technologies and data. Develop and maintain awareness of data-centered initiatives in the sciences. Attend professional meetings, workshops and conferences for training and continuing professional development as appropriate. Participate in writing grant proposals.

Qualifications:

Required: MLIS from ALA-accredited program; excellent communication skills; superior organizational and analytical skills; subject background in life sciences and/or chemistry or equivalent experience; experience with computer and telecommunications technologies for information management. The purpose of the Smathers Libraries Grant Program is to promote an increase in grant-funded projects in order to meet our goals and mission. The program is comprised of a Coordinator, Research Programs/Services and a Grants Special, Senior who reports to the Coordinator.

The Grants Coordinator is responsible for managing this program and for coordinating policies, processes and support mechanisms for grant activities for the Libraries. The Grants Coordinator works with library staff, faculty, functional teams and project teams to identify opportunities and to expand the Libraries' grants and revenue-producing programs. The Grants Coordinator will build partnerships on campus, as well as with organizations locally, regionally, and nationally for project and revenue funding opportunities. The Grants Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the research of potential fundraising sources including, but not limited to, individual donors, government, corporate and foundation institutions. This person is responsible for the collection and compilation of data, timely submission of proposals and the monitoring of awards.

The duties of this position include:
Research: Responsible for the coordination of all research of potential fundraising sources including, but not limited to, individual donors, government, corporate and foundation institutions to fund exhibitions, educational programs, acquisitions and general operations. Coordination of such research will involve working with key offices at the University of Florida and the University of Florida Foundation, including the Office of Development, Alumni Affairs, Corporate and Foundation Relations, the Office of Development, Alumni Affairs Research, UF Sponsored Research and UF Contracts and Grants. Researches and identifies funding sources; monitors trends in grants and funding sources and communicates this information to the Libraries. Develop a list of library projects in need of external funding. Respond to requests for information and analysis. Administer and monitor extramural research activities such as, subcontracts. Manage budgets for engaged grant activities; manage indirect revenues and expenses.

Proposal Development:Coordinate all activities related to proposal development, including the identification of library projects needing financial support; development of schedules and timelines based on application and proposal deadlines; writing, editing and the preparation of all proposals. This responsibility will require close interaction with the professional staff of the library and agencies internal and external to the University of Florida. Coordinates policies, leads processes, and develops support mechanisms for grant and revenue activities in the Libraries. Proactively work with individual faculty to identify potential sources of support; search RFP database and communicate to faculty proactively. Develop and maintain relationships with appropriate grant sources to be on the forefront of impending grant initiatives. Prepare and process internal pre-award forms and documents. Develop rapport with key staff to facilitate internal processing within sponsor deadlines. Educate and assist the Libraries faculty and staff in the successful pursuit of grant and revenue activities. Monitor and support the Libraries faculty and staff in the development of budget projections, responses to Requests for Proposals, and negotiations, when appropriate. Documents and reports cost-benefit/savings of existing and proposed activities. Confirms fiscal liabilities of proposed projects. May provide drafting, writing, and editing functions in the preparation of grant proposals.

Award Management:Manage and administer all activities related to grant awards. This shall include the coordination of all reporting requirements, the maintenance of accurate records of deadlines, notification dates, and any special requirements necessary for the libraries fulfillment of contract responsibilities specified by the awarding individuals/agencies. Responsible for the interpretation and implementation of policies and procedures established by the University of Florida and the University of Florida Foundation. Ensures accountability and fiscal responsibility of grant projects. Works with faculty to ensure project staffing and expenses conform to the budget and performance goals. Oversee appropriate administration of research grants and contracts awarded; assure funds are spent in a fiscally responsible fashion. Review requests to purchase and other expenditures; insure allowable and allocable charges per OMB circular A-21 and other applicable sponsor guidelines.

Liaison:Serve as the liaison between the library and the Office of Development, Alumni Affairs, Corporate and Foundation Relations, the Office of Development, Alumni Affairs Research, UF Sponsored Research and UF Contracts and Grants, as well as outside agencies and the general public as deemed appropriate. The Indiana University Kokomo Library is seeking an innovative and dynamic leader for the position of Dean of Library.

The Kokomo campus offers more than 30 academic programs and through the Purdue University School of Technology the campus also offers degree and certificate programs in a number of technical fields. The IU Kokomo Library is part of one of the leading academic research library systems in North America, providing strong collections, quality service and instructional programs, and leadership in the application of information technologies. The IU Kokomo Library provides print and electronic materials for approximately 3,000 students and 100 faculty members. Although the Library maintains a collection of materials in multiple formats, significant emphasis is placed on acquiring materials for an electronic environment.

The primary responsibility of the Dean is to provide leadership in all areas of library administration and operation including policy and strategic planning, personnel supervision and the development of collaborative relationships by establishing strong interaction with the faculty and creating partnerships for teaching and learning. The Library staff currently consists of 4 librarians, 3 adjunct librarians, 3 full-time support staff, plus student assistants. The candidate must demonstrate proven leadership in fiscal management including budget development, justification, and administration. The Dean is a member of the Indiana University Kokomo Academic Council, Deans Council, Administrative Council, Indiana University Council of Head Librarians, and serves on other library, campus, and Indiana University-wide committees.

The IU Kokomo Library contains a Learning Commons embracing collaborative partnerships between Information Technologies and the Campus Writing Center. The Dean will demonstrate leadership in moving the Library toward ever higher levels of collegiality and excellence in providing both technological and human services to students.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants for this position must have a Master of Liberal Science from an ALA-accredited program (or equivalent), and a minimum of 8 years of previous academic library experience. An ideal candidate will have at least 5 years in administration and a minimum of 3 years experience in management and supervision of professional librarians. The successful applicant will have an understanding of current technological applications and trends in libraries, good knowledge of curriculum development, project management, knowledge of diversity issues, excellent written and oral communication skills.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Starting salary will be offered in low 80’s; rank will depend upon qualifications and experience. This is a twelve-month, faculty rank, tenured position. Responsibilities:
The successful candidate serves as liaison to assigned departments; meets regularly with members of the departments to provide information and instruction about library services, collections, and programs. The successful candidate will deliver quality, in-depth reference and consultation services in the designated subject areas; develop library collections in the assigned areas, including participation in the management of the library materials budget; promote the library and information literacy; and foster communication between the assigned departments and the library. Liaison librarians assist with the general reference service that includes desk and virtual reference hours and are responsible for occasional weekend and evening hours. As faculty members, liaison librarians serve on library and university committees and engage in scholarly activities.

Requirements:
ALA-accredited MLS and relevant experience in one of the advertised subject areas. Familiarity with resources in a variety of formats, skill in use of technology and web based applications, and excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED:
Master*s Degree in one of the advertised subject areas. Experience in Collection Development within one of the subject areas, especially music, is strongly preferred. Demonstrated interest in research and professional activities.

Salary and Rank:
$42,800-$52,000 for 12 months commensurate with the candidate*s education and experience. Appointment at a faculty rank, on a contract renewal basis.

Description: The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections has created a three-year professional position for an Assistant Curator for Special Collections, whose work with two senior curators on a broad array of rare and unique materials at Princeton will provide training and mentoring relationships to allow the individual selected to pursue a curatorial career in special collections at a major American research library. The Assistant Curator will divide his/her time in the Manuscripts and Rare Books divisions, both located in Firestone Library. The Assistant Curator will work under the direct supervision of the Curator of Manuscripts and the Curator of Rare Books and will participate in the ongoing activities of these areas, as well as in special projects related to several of the following aspects of special collections work: reference, instruction and curriculum support, outreach, collection development, cataloging, bibliography, physical description, arrangement and description, preservation, digitization (especially metadata), and exhibitions. Approximately 20 percent of the Assistant Curator’s time will be devoted to public services for the Firestone units of the Department of Rare Books and Special Collections. Special assignments and projects under the supervision of the curators of Manuscripts and Rare Books will depend on departmental needs. There will be opportunities for working with donors, interacting with dealers, reviewing auction catalogs, and participating in the difficult decision of what to purchase given limited resources. It is assumed that the Assistant Curator will have strong subject background, research experience, and appropriate languages to work in areas of comparable strength in both the Manuscripts and Rare Books divisions, such as pre-1800 European books, including manuscripts, printed books, and annotated books; or modern literature and publishing history, especially relating to British and American authors, 18th-20th century. Five Colleges, Incorporated is a nonprofit educational consortium established in 1965 to promote the broad educational and cultural objectives of its member institutions, Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Hampshire College. The Five Colleges seek candidates for the position of Five Colleges Libraries, Aleph Manager. Reporting to the Five Colleges Librarians Council through the Director of Libraries, UMass Amherst, this position leads the management and ongoing utilization of the Five Colleges Libraries Aleph integrated library system. Working with the Aleph Management Committee (with representatives from each of the five libraries), Five Colleges functional committees, and the technical support staff of UMass Amherst Libraries, the Manager coordinates communication and efforts among the libraries and within the shared Aleph implementation including maintaining common configuration tables, troubleshooting problem reports, writing custom reports, coordinating software patches and upgrades, and providing training and documentation to library staff. This position serves as the information conduit between vendors and the Five Colleges Libraries, including possible enhancements, special ILS-related projects, and auxiliary services. The incumbent is expected to maintain a broad and detailed mastery of Aleph and other core applications while contributing to and advancing the collaborative vision of the Five Colleges Libraries.
