Estimados REFORMISTAS:

As we greet the New Year, we realize that the dates for REFORMA’s 2nd National Conference in Tucson draw closer. It is a great honor for our city to serve as host for this important event and we look forward to having you all here.

Tucson has been historically known as the "Old Pueblo." It is a wonderful City and we pride ourselves on our diverse history, culture and traditions. We have undergone tremendous growth and change, yet that ‘small town’ feeling of community still remains. We will do our best to insure that you experience all the best that the "Old Pueblo" has to offer when you come to take part in the REFORMA Conference. For a preview of our City and its many features, I encourage you to visit our website at www.ci.tucson.az.us.

Libraries are important to our community. I take great pride in having been the first person of Latino descent to serve as Director of the Tucson-Pima Public Library in this, my home town. I have maintained my commitment to libraries in my role as Assistant City Manager. I t will be a great pleasure for me to participate in the upcoming REFORMA conference, and to learn from those who will bring their ideas and successes forward in the sessions to be held.

On behalf of City Manager Luis Gutierrez and Assistant City Manager Benny Young, I pledge the City’s help and support to make REFORMA’s event an enjoyable and worthwhile endeavor.

¡Saludos a todos – los esperamos con gran anticipacion!
