As a newly formed committee, the Information Technology Committee (ITC) was interested in determining the level of information technology competencies among REFORMA members. The purpose was to gain a better understanding of the level of experience and access to information technologies of Reformistas in order for ITC to best serve their needs. We also hoped to identify individuals who were interested in assisting the ITC with its goals and objectives. To determine the level of experience, awareness and types of access to the Internet, ITC asked Reformistas to share their experience and access to information technologies via a survey. The ITC distributed the survey in the Spring Issue of the REFORMA Newsletter. The survey was also distributed through e-mail announcements on REFORMANET and an online form on the REFORMA Website. The survey period was from March 9, 1998 – May 8, 1998. A total of 98 surveys were received.

The survey contained 14 questions covering the following areas:

  • Level of access to the Internet from work and home
  • Frequency of use of the Internet
  • Skill levels using technology
  • Staying current about technology and related policies
  • Uses of the Internet
  • Use of the REFORMA Website & suggestions/comments
  • Accessing the REFORMA Newsletter online
  • Willingness to assist ITC with goals & objectives
