Barack Obama wrote this book in 2008 before he became president of the United States.  In the book he writes to his daughters, Sasha and Malia, about what they can accomplish.  He asks them to look to their future and encourages them to strive for what they would like to become when they grow up.  Mr. Obama uses thirteen American icons who accomplished what they set out to do as examples.  His examples show the diverse attributes of each American.  The Americans who are portrayed are shown as children and adults.  Long has done a great job of colorfully portraying each American.  In addition, Johansson did a masterful job translating the original English into Spanish, except for one small detail. She uses the formal tense when she translates the questions asked by Mr. Obama “Have I told you that you are …?” when the rest of the book  is translated using less informal language.  The book includes a brief biography of the thirteen American icons that are portrayed in the book.  Recommended
