La Vida Tiene Valores (Life has Values) focuses on three major causes of juvenile delinquency.  These are:  lack of parent leadership, violence in the home and child sexual abuse. The author, Juan Villegas, is more than qualified to share his views on this subject, having been in law enforcement in Orange County, California, for over 22 years and an instructor for the Orange County ShortStop juvenile crime prevention program for more than 11 years.  Villegas has firsthand experience with at risk youth and gangs.  It is this experience that has motivated him to write this easy to read, practical, no-nonsense book for parents and teens.

La Vida Tiene Valores encourages parents to become leaders in their homes, promoters of healthy living, and mentors to their children.  It provides tools to promote self-worth, encourage good moral standards and discipline in their families.

Juan Villegas, son of Mexican immigrants, is the first Latino Law Enforcement Officer to write an educational parenting book on this subject specifically for the Latino Community.  A most worthwhile read for parents, advocates, and educators interested in helping our youth survive the urban jungle.

Highly recommended for public libraries
