Ana Campos Statement

Ana Campos
Nominee for Secreatary

Dear Reformistas,

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be nominated as REFORMA’s secretary.  If elected, I will represent REFORMA to the best of my abilities. I believe that REFORMA can provide resources to librarians that other organizations cannot. I will be sure to support and contribute to the expansion of REFORMA's mission by documenting and actively promoting REFORMA as a secretary.

I have worked for Los Angeles Public Library, LAPL, for over 20 years. I am currently the senior librarian at International Languages Department at Central Library, LAPL.  I oversee a collection in 30 different languages and host programs that promote cultural awareness and understanding.  My department has the largest Spanish collection in all the 73 branches of LAPL.  I also assist with the Spanish book collection development for the entire LAPL system. This allows me to attend international book fairs, like Feria Internacional del Libro in Mexico (FIL), LIBER International Book Fair in Spain, and the Feria del Libro de Buenos Aires in Argentina. Additionally, I have a background as a secondary education teacher. It was my training as a school teacher that taught me how to stay on task and always meet my deadlines.

I have participated in various committees for LAPL and I am currently a Trustee for the Los Angeles Librarians’ Guild, which is a professional organization and union representing Librarians who serve the LAPL.  My experience at the various committees with LAPL and the Librarians’ Guild have prepared me to be part of the REFORMA committee.  I am very grateful to have the opportunity to run for this position and if elected, I will do my best to serve as Secretary of REFORMA.
