REFORMA Fiesta and Fundraiser

REFORMA, The National Association to Promote Library & Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking, will hold the REFORMA Fiesta & Fundraiser on June 30, 2024 from 6pm-9pm during the American Library Association Annual Conference at the San Diego Central Library.

This will be an opportunity to gather with REFORMA familia, network with library folks across the country, be thoroughly entertained, and share a night to remember in beautiful Southern California!

Most importantly - REFORMA will be raising funds for scholarships and Children in Crisis initiative. 

Here is how you can make this fundraiser a success:

Purchase a ticket for yourself, a student, a colleague or as a donation:
  • $50 | Student Ticket
  • $75 | General Fundraiser Ticket
  • $525 | Table purchase (Seats 8)

Donation/Sponsorship opportunities and perks:

  • $100 | Donations above $100 will receive thanks on event program
  • $250 | Donations above $250 will receive two tickets to the fundraiser, thanks on event program $ social media
$1000 | Sponsorships above $1,000 will be named as event sponsors on all promotional materials (event program, social media, website, in-person, and receive two tickets to the fundraiser. 

Gala Performers

Jesus Trejo

Jesus Trejo is a Los Angeles based, comedian, actor, and writer. Born and raised in Long Beach, CA. Trejo’s first stand-up comedy special STAY AT HOME SON premiered on Showtime in 2020 and his latest standup special, PRACTICING? debuted on YouTube this year. He recently served as a Staff Writer on Hulu’s THIS FOOL, and was previously recurring as the role of Mr. Trujillo on the Netflix series MR. IGLESIAS, and can be seen on his multiple appearances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Trejo is also the host of Tacos Con Todo, a web series from Complex/First We Feast (HOT ONES) in which he navigates the LA taco scene with celebrity guests. Jesus is also an author of two children’s books as a part of a two-book deal with publisher Astra/Minerva, the first of which, "Papás Magical Water Jug-Clock," has collected several awards since its release, including the prestigious Pura Belpré Honor for both writing and illustrations. Jesus’ younger-self will be the protagonist in both books, and his upbringing will serve as a backdrop to the many life lessons learned working as a first generation Mexican-American. The second book, “Mamas Magnificent Dancing Plantitas”, releases at the end of this year. Jesus was named a Variety Top 10 Comic to watch at the Just For Laughs comedy festival in 2017, and can be seen performing regularly at his home club, the Comedy Store in Los Angeles.

Maya Glitterzone

Maya Glitterzone is a 32 year old drag artist originally from Yucatán, Mexico. Maya has been living in the USA for over 7 years.

Raquelita

Raquelita grew up on the San Diego and Tijuana border and is very proud of her Mexican culture. Her goal is to use her art to help educate and empower people to be themselves, and create safer environments for LGBTQ+ people in San Diego. Raquelita is also an associate clinical counselor and provides therapy to youth and adults seeking support with their mental health. You may contact Raquelita: xaecounseling@gmail.com

In September of 2019 Raquelita and her drag sister, Barbie Q, performed at the Chula Vista Drag Queen Storytime. Raquelita and Barbie Q produced a short documentary about their experiences with drag and drag queen story time titled, Las Reinas De Los Cuentos (2021).

BarbieQ

BarbieQ is the saucy zesty sweet curvy Latina Queen here to sprinkle teal and pink glittery energy to the world. Barbie Q is a San Diego born and raised drag activist who uses their art to create empowering spaces for LGBTQ+ youth and families through bilingual storytelling. They are currently a PhD candidate at UCSD in the Interdisciplinary Research on Substance Use Program where their research focuses on providing  culturally sensitive health and wellness resources to Latine LGBT communities through community based approaches.

DJ Ziba Z

DJ Ziba Z started on the radio at KUCI 88.9 FM in Irvine in the year 2000 with the show Channel Z! 
Ziba then hosted a talk radio show from 2010-2013 called "Our Digital Future" interviewing information professionals from around the world. As of 2021 Channel Z is back on the air but now at KLBP 99.1 FM in Long Beach! Tune in to Long Beach Public Radio Sundays 2-4PM live on KLBP.org 

Channel Z is two hours of eclectic (mainly indie) non-mainstream (mainly vinyl) tunes weekly.

Trio Renacimiento
