REFORMA National, in collaboration with Simon and Schuster, has the honor of hosting Emma Otheguy, author and Poly Bernatene.  Otheguy's newly published book Cousins In Time of Magic, illustrated by Bernatene, follows the adventures of three cousins who accidentally discover a portal through time and must find a way to return home. During this event, Otheguy and Bernatene will talk about the importance of storytelling through a conversation with Daniella Pagan, a Youth Material Selector at BookOps, the technical services collaboration between New York Public Library (NYPL) and Brooklyn Public Library (BPL). Basically, she’s part of the amazing team that buys all the children and young adult books for the 150+ circulating branches of NYPL and BPL!

We will also have a brief presentation from Children in Crisis and they will speak on the support they have been providing to children detained at the border.

Emma Otheguy is the author of several books for children, including the picture books A Sled for Gabo and Martina Has Too Many Tías, the bilingual picture book Martí’s Song for Freedom, and the middle-grade novels Sofía Acosta Makes a Scene and Silver Meadows Summer. Learn more at EmmaOtheguy.com.

Poly Bernatene was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is a graduate from the Buenos Aires Art School where he developed a great interest in managing different techniques which lead to his work being based on experimentation and diversity. Over the last couple of years, Bernatene has established himself as a professional author and illustrator having published more than 60 children's books all over the world. Learn more about Poly's work at PolyBernatene.com.

All proceeds for this event will go to REFORMA National's Children in Crisis Task Force. You can learn more about the work that the Children in Crisis Task Force does here and if you would like to donate to contribute to their efforts please click here.
