Join us for a one-hour webinar in collaboration with the Asian Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA) as we celebrate the invaluable contributions of Filipino librarians and the cultural ties that unite us. Filipinos and Latinos share many cultural characteristics, including last names, religion, and language, with numerous Spanish words integrated into Filipino languages.

The REFORMA International Relations Committee (IRC) is committed to addressing the needs of all Latinos, including those of mixed heritage. Our past webinars have highlighted the Chinese-Latino communities and library services for them, as well as human rights themes related to global situations.

This event will feature esteemed speakers, including the President of APALA and Filipino librarians from the Philippines and various countries worldwide.

  • Jaena Rae Cabrera, APALA President
  • April Manabat, Teaching and Learning Support Librarian at Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan
  • Joseph Marmol Yap, Ph.D. student, Doctoral School of Literary Studies at Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest, Hungary
  • Dr. Reysa Alenzuela, Head Librarian of Oriental Institute of the Academy of Sciences in the Czech Republic
