**Columbia University Libraries*

Columbia University Libraries invites nominations and applications for
the Director of Digital Project Management.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Technology and
Preservation, the Director is a member of the Libraries' Leadership
Council and will lead the newly formed Digital Project Management
Division in coordinating large, complex, and/or significant digital
projects. These projects typically involve many Library divisions,
Columbia University IT and other campus divisions, as well as external
partners and collaborators such as Fedora/Hydra technology communities
and Chinese Academic Digital Associative Library (CADAL). Examples of
projects include Carnegie grant, ArchiveSpace, Research Information
Systems, Voyager replacement, telephony and network refresh.

Supervising a staff of 3.5 professionals the Director will:
- Oversee and coordinate with other Library directors the development
and implementation of multi-divisional Libraries digital projects,
including but not limited to developing project plans, setting
requirements, creating budgets and timelines, building and managing
project teams, overseeing projects and communicating with stakeholders
and partners as required.
- Develop and modify policies, practices and workflows to support
Libraries digital projects and initiatives, including but not limited to
project portfolio management, tool selection and support, review and
dissemination of best practices, consultation and guidance to project
management staff throughout the Libraries, and lifecycle management of
digital projects.
- Provide reports, analysis, dashboards and strategic support as needed
for executive leadership, management team and project coordinators.
- Collaborate with external clients, donors and partners, work closely
with Columbia IT and other University departments as required, represent
Libraries within Columbia and externally, contribute to Libraries-wide
strategic planning, and maintain awareness of best practices and
advances in digital library project approaches and implementations.
- In coordination with Library directors, assist with grant preparation,
analysis of acquisition opportunities with significant digital
obligations, and reporting as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a related field
- Substantial experience in project management, software development,
digital library projects, or related areas.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects on budget and
on time.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Project management certification.
- Familiarity with library and archives digitization.
- Familiarity with Fedora / Hydra / Blacklight tech stack.
- Experience with grant-writing
- Experience in an academic environment.
- Experience with agile project development and management methodologies
