PART-TIME HOURLY JOBS – INFORMATION DESK

PART-TIME HOURLY JOBS – INFORMATION DESK – BRANCHES – WESTERN AREA (Odenton, Maryland City at Russett, Severn) NORTHERN AREA (Glen Burnie, Linthicum and Brooklyn Park), and NORTHEAST AREA (Riviera Beach, Severna Park and Mountain Road) and MID/EASTERN AREA (Annapolis, Eastport-Annapolis Neck, Broadneck and Discoveries at the Mall) and SOUTHERN AREA (Crofton, Edgewater, Deale). ***Ability to work at all 3/4 branches in one area is required***

LIBRARY HOURS: Monday – Thursday 9 am to 9 pm; Friday – Saturday 9 am to 5 pm; Sundays (Sept thru May) 12:30 pm to 5 pm.

SALARY: $17.16/hr. to start. Annual increases based on County funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide reference and readers’ advisory service; instruct and help customers in the use of library resources.
    
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree; excellent customer service skills; computer experience using MS WINDOWS; knowledge of the Internet as a research took; research-related experience; and ability to learn the Library’s research & circulation systems, policies and procedures.

SCHEDULING: Candidates will designate a specific time period of availability (morning 9 am – 1 pm, afternoon 1 pm – 5pm, or evening 5pm – 9pm) as their primary shift. A minimum requirement for filling these shifts must be met each month. Additional hours outside of their primary shift may be accepted. Must have good Saturday availability at least once or twice each month. May be required to work up to two Sundays per month during the Sunday season. No set schedule or number of hours/week are guaranteed. Work is scheduled on an as-needed, on-call basis.

MANDATORY TESTING &TRAINING: Ability to attend a skills test on February 18th, 2019. If hired, must be available to attend and successfully complete all training during the month of March: Initial training will take place March 4th through March 8th, 2019; then eighteen additional hours of on-the-job training between March 11th through March 22nd, 2019. A second week of training from March 25th through March 29th, 2019; then eighteen additional hours of on-the-job training between April 1st and April 12th, 2019.    

TIMETABLE for filling vacancies: Candidates selected for the skills test (being conducted on 2/18/19) will be contacted during the week of February 11th, 2019. Candidates who pass the skills test will be interviewed during the week of February 18th, 2019. Start date is March 4th, 2019.
