The Marin County Free Library (MCFL) is a special taxing district that operates ten branch libraries in Marin under the authority of the Board of Supervisors. MCFL’s mission is to provide welcoming, equitable and inclusive opportunities for all to connect, learn and explore. It delivers public library services to the residents of the unincorporated areas of the County and the cities of Corte Madera, Fairfax and Novato.

The Marin County Free Library is an innovative, entrepreneurial and dynamic civic institution that is committed to providing exceptional services to a community that cares deeply about the library and encourages the library to assume a critical role in making the community strong, equitable, resilient and progressive. MCFL is committed to cultural competency and the inclusion of those with multiple perspectives and backgrounds in our decision making.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of County Library Services, the Senior Librarian will manage the day-to-day operations, facility, and dynamic, engaged staff at our second busiest library branch, the Corte Madera Library. Located just nine miles from the Golden Gate Bridge, this library features a lovely garden with benches available for enjoying the outdoors, a large up-to-date collection of library materials, engaging programming for adults, teens, and children, and cutting-edge technology including VR/AR for the community to learn from and enjoy. When it’s not in use by teens for after- school tutoring or late-night study sessions, the community room hosts engaging and innovative programming for all ages and rotating art exhibits from local artists. For all these reasons, the Corte Madera Library is deeply loved by our patrons, not only for the beauty of its setting but for the excellent customer service provided by the dozen professional and paraprofessional staff. If you are interested in leading a dynamic team that is devoted to providing top-notch customer service with a focus on educational and racial equity, this could just be the job for you.
