Recently embarking on a historic $2.1 billion comprehensive campaign, the University of Kentucky set an ambitious path to be a destination for students, scholars, and healthcare providers to forge new discoveries and arrive at world-class outcomes. University of Kentucky Libraries is vital to fulfilling the goals of enhancing and expanding the university’s research enterprise, and we are looking for a Systems Librarian to join our team to help support the administration, configuration and implementation of all components of the library’s Integrated Library System (Alma), the discovery system (Primo), and other services used to integrate the efficient and effective operations of the Library with the ILS. Primary duties will include researching, planning and creating data import and export between the ILS and campus enterprise systems, and with vendor systems.

Supervising the Library Discovery System Coordinator, the Systems Librarian will plan and expand discovery and educational services through the ILS Discovery system, Primo. The Systems Librarian will serve as primary technical liaison with Ex Libris, the ILS vendor of Alma and Primo. The Systems Librarian will troubleshoot problems, develop new system capabilities, and advocate for improvements to better serve our user needs. The Systems Librarian will attend and participate in vendor users’ group meetings to stay apprised of developments, share discoveries and advocate for future system developments.

Under the Collections and Technical Services Division, working in the Library Information Technology department, the Systems Librarian will collaborate with colleagues, committees and departments to define requirements for the smooth and efficient operations of the ILS. The Systems Librarian will contribute research support for library collection analysis activities and assessment, and will develop and assist others in developing and running analytics and reports. The Systems Librarian will help develop training material for library employees to maximize their understanding and effectiveness   in using the ILS as its capabilities improve.   
Requirements.
•     Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution, or related Master’s degree.
•     Demonstrated experience administering and configuring an ILS.
•     Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate difficult technical concepts within a diverse academic community to ensure a constantly improving library user experience.
•     Demonstrated experience troubleshooting problems arising with library systems.
•     Demonstrated familiarity with library systems, such as, course management systems, authentication protocols, OpenURL resolvers, databases and other library communication standards and protocols.
•     Demonstrated understanding of academic library services.
•     Competence and sensitivity in working at a university in which students, faculty, and staff are diverse with regard to many facets of identity.
•     Ability to meet the requirements of a tenure-track position through research, publication, and/or professional engagement.

Preferred:
?     Certified Ex Libris Alma/Primo Administrator.
?     Computer programming or scripting knowledge.
