Job Summary

CU Boulder Libraries encourages applications for a Collection Outreach and Engagement Specialist. In this role you will plan, develop and monitor communication channels so that we may collaboratively build and promote our collections to librarians, students, faculty, staff, and the campus and local communities.

As a member of the Libraries Scholarly Resource Development Department, you will participate in shaping and communicating the Libraries’ overall strategic direction in support of our mission.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Collection Building

Curate physical and digital displays of books by CU Authors as well as other areas of the collection
Review general gifts-in-kind, recommending materials to be added to the collection
Actively participate in working groups, providing support for departmental projects as needed.
Oversee some patron requests and other non-traditional collection building functions such as streaming videos and trial resource feedback.
Monitor usage statistics and evaluation forms for new and trial e-resources.
Monitor and manage requests to purchase materials for the collection that are submitted via email or online request forms
Outreach and Communication

Developing and maintaining information about collections and new resources on the Libraries website, SharePoint site, and other communication channels
Promoting new resources via email, social media, SharePoint, blog posts, rack cards, etc.
Participate in relevant working groups, such as the Outreach Group or Exhibits team.
Support internal communication via the Libraries website and various SharePoint sites, informing stakeholders about things such as vendor visits, new resources, or applicable training sessions
Donor Engagement

Primary point of contact for in-kind gifts, ensuring that doors receive timely updates and acknowledgements about their contributions
Support internal and external communication about new gifts by way of news stories or newsletters
Support the Director by creating reports and promotional materials to track gift activities and showcase new donations
What We Can Offer

A successful candidate will be hired at the rank of Academic Services Professional at a minimum salary of $46,000.

What We Require

Bachelor’s degree; an equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for education.
One year experience working in libraries. A Master’s of Library & Information Science degree may be substituted for this experience.
Experience developing promotional materials and planning outreach programs

Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Aptitude for creative problem solving
An eye for design
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and within a set of brand standards as necessary
Attention to detail

Knowledge of the mission, goals, and values of academic libraries
What We Would Like You To Have

Familiarity with library resources and collection development practices.
Communication or graphic design experience.
Experience building promotional materials for multiple marketing and communication channels including social media, displays, and printed materials.
Experience communicating with vendors, donors, and managing similar relationships with external partners.
Proven ability to design and implement projects or formal project management training.
Ability to organize work, set priorities, and handle multiple tasks while maintaining strong attention to detail.
