BROWARD COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
LIBRARIES DIVISION LIBRARY REGIONAL MANAGER FULL TIME POSITION Salary Range - $88,816.42 - $141,750.96 annually (dependent upon qualifications) Broward County, Board of County Commissioners is seeking a qualified candidate who is dynamic, innovative, and passionate about public libraries and providing quality (SUNsational) service to a culturally rich and diverse community, for the position of Library Regional Manager for the African-American Library and Cultural Center in a large nationally recognized library system. This position may be assigned to any location within the Libraries Division based on operational needs. The library system includes a staff of 800+ employees, the African American Research Library and Cultural Center, a Main Library, five Regional Libraries, 31 Community Branches, a digital branch with 24/7 remote access, and partnership facilities with local educational institutions. This is a highly responsible administrative position that involves planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the African American Research Library and Cultural Center. Work involves interpretation and implementation of all library policies and procedures, supervision of high level professional personnel, planning, public service functions, and the organization of services to the public. Work also includes the management of African and African-American special collections (rare books, archives, and artifacts), programs and exhibits, assisting the needs of the community, establishing and implementing public service priorities, attending conferences, workshops and public and professional meetings. Work is subject to review for the attainment of desired management objectives and conforming to existing policies and procedures and priorities to meet established goals. The purpose of this position is to manage, plan, supervise and coordinate the activities of a cluster of libraries or flagship library location or a division-wide section. The functions of this position include but are not limited to: supervising staff, managing public services, operations, projects, programs, facilitating partnerships, community engagement, coordinating, developing, and implementing division-wide initiatives. This position is responsible for collaborating with partner organizations, local community groups, government agencies, arts and educational institutions, local businesses, and Friends of the Library and is regularly assigned complex administrative projects. Requirements: Requires a Master's degree from a college or university in Library Science, Library and Information Science, or field relevant to area of assignment. (Master's degree must be from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association depending upon area of assignment). Requires five (5) years of professional library experience or experience relevant to area of assignment; including four (4) years of relevant supervisory experience. Preferences: •Master's degree or higher in Education or related field that is separate but relevant from the Minimum Qualifications. (I.e. Public Administration, Social Work, Business Administration). •ALA Leadership Institute Certificate •Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute Certificate •Post Master Certificates in Librarianship •Certificate in Library Leadership and Management •Knowledge of African and African American history, culture and literature including the Caribbean and African Diaspora •Two or more years experience in establishing effective relationships with vendors, donors, organizations, educational institutions to further organizational goals •Four years experience managing and/or developing a system-wide plan of service for adult programs and services •Two or more years experience in archival and museum standards, trends, and best practices •Experience in Grants Writing and Implementation •Experience in Project Management and Partnerships How to Apply: Your application must be received on-line at www.broward.org/careers by 5:00 p.m. on December 21, 2018.
