LIBRARY DIRECTOR—BARBERTON (OH) PUBLIC LIBRARY

Discover the magic and become the next Library Director for Barberton Public Library! The Board of Trustees of the Barberton Public Library seeks a responsive, engaged consensus-builder to lead the Library to success. The Director will provide quality leadership, direct and support staff, and bring experience and vision to the Library. Located in Northeast Ohio/Summit County, the Library serves the 26,385 residents of the Barberton City Schools district. Governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees, the Library provides excellent services and programs with 21FTE staff and a $1.6 million annual budget. Successful passage of a 1.97 mill levy renewal in 2015 provides 36% of the Library’s operating expenses. The Library’s main location is located across the street from Lake Anna Park, a 21-acre park and the Community Health branch is located inside the Summa Health System Barberton Campus Hospital.

The city of Barberton, the “Magic City,” is located in southwest Summit County, Ohio. Barberton provides a family-friendly, small town lifestyle with affordable housing and nearby amenities (Akron, Cleveland and Pittsburgh are a short drive away). Local residents will find excellent schools and the University of Akron and Stark State campus offer higher education opportunities. Sports fans will enjoy close proximity to many stellar professional baseball, football and basketball teams as well as the nearby Pro Football Hall of Fame. Barberton is known for its unique style of fried chicken known as Barberton Chicken, which reflects a proud tradition of many immigrant families arriving in Barberton in the late 1800s and early 1900s, attributing to the city’s “magic” growth during that time. Today, Barberton is a city on the move, working to revitalize its downtown.    For more information about the Library, the community and the position, please visit Barberton Links.
