UTSA Libraries Scholarly Communication Librarian

The University of Texas at San Antonio Libraries seeks enthusiastic, knowledgeable, service?oriented applicants for the position of Scholarly Communication Librarian. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Collections & Curriculum Support, the Scholarly Communication Librarian is responsible for participating in the development and delivery of scholarly communication programs and services, coordinating outreach, programming, and assessment of services and initiatives for licensing, copyright and fair use, the Libraries’ institutional repository, trends in scholarly publishing, author rights, and data management.

Responsibilities
? Serves as a resource on issues and trends relevant to copyright and fair use, scholarly publishing platforms, repositories, data management, author rights, public access, open access, open data, and reputation and identity management.
? Reviews and negotiates license terms and conditions for information resources.
? Manages the Libraries’ licensing practices, including license compliance.
? Develops strategic relationships with campus community members to inform, support, and
advance the scholarly communication program’s goals.
? Manages the Libraries’ institutional repository.
? Engages and partners with subject librarians to design and deliver educational programs to
faculty and campus units about copyright and scholarly communication. Develop relevant
trainings, guides and tools for library and campus constituencies.
? Establishes support mechanisms to assist faculty with publishing choices, publishing
agreements, management of copyright and intellectual property, and compliance with funder
requirements.
? Sets goals for scholarly communication initiatives.
? Leads and participates in committees, task forces, and strategic projects.
? Monitors national scholarly communication trends and issues, and informs library and university
constituents to ensure full benefits of the dynamic scholarly communication system.
? Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
? ALA?accredited MLS or equivalent degree
? Three years of experience in a role related to scholarly communication, including copyright and
fair use, scholarly publishing, data management, and author rights
? Demonstrated knowledge of current issues, trends, best practices, and new and emerging technologies in scholarly communication
? Demonstrated experience with licensing electronic resources
? Demonstrated knowledge of institutional repositories
? Skills to collect, create, disseminate, and analyze statistical reports and assessment metrics
? Experience designing and delivering effective instruction and outreach activities
? Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
? Proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple and diverse constituencies
? Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
? Advanced degree in an academic discipline
? Project planning, coordination, collaboration, and management skills
? Demonstrated knowledge of digital preservation
? Demonstrated knowledge of metadata schema and standards

Salary: $47,412 (flexible depending upon experience)
