Butte County Library, California, is a large rural library system with six branch locations, adult literacy services, and digital literacy outreach. The Library is known for its innovative, hard-working staff, which includes library leaders, program pioneers and numerous grant winners. Both para-professionals and professionals play an important role in successful programs for all ages. Butte County Library staff serve on many statewide library committees and advisory councils.

The ideal candidate for the Butte County Librarian position is a professional, broad focused, lifelong learner who has a passion for working in a culturally diverse rural community. Working as a collaborative partnership with the community, staff, and stakeholders, this person will need to embrace the importance of outreach, leadership, and community engagement. This requires an outward focused problem solving perspective that is open and responsive. A
working knowledge and interest in keeping up with changes in information technology and national and regional library trends is essential. Providing one on one assistance to library patrons in order to create a positive impact, with responsive quality service through the development of new programs to serve our community. Spanish language skills are preferred.
