Ivan Aguirre - STATEMENT

California Region Chapter Representative

As I transition into Immediate Past President of the REFORMA Inland Empire Chapter, I’ve had the honor of leading, collaborating, and growing alongside passionate professionals who believe deeply in the mission of equitable library services for our Spanish-speaking communities. I am seeking the role of California Region Chapter Representative because I am ready to extend that leadership to a regional scale by supporting chapters, amplifying voices, and helping REFORMA continue to thrive through unity, communication, and shared purpose.

With an MLIS and a career that spans multiple management roles within the Riverside County Library System—Norco, Cabazon, and now Calimesa—I bring firsthand experience in navigating community needs, advocating for inclusive programming, and mentoring staff and peers alike. I also serve on the California Library Association's Leadership Development Committee, where I help shape initiatives that identify and uplift the next generation of library leaders.

I understand the unique challenges our Western Region chapters face, and I bring not only experience, but empathy, strategy, and commitment. My vision is to foster stronger connections between chapters, ensure our local work is aligned and recognized at the national level, and be a consistent and responsive presence for our membership. I look forward to an opportunity to step up and serve the broader region with the same care for connection that has guided my leadership so far.
