Supervising Librarian
Ontario City Library has an exciting opportunity for someone with creative ideas and a passion for library services to adults. The Supervising Librarian is responsible for providing leadership and direction in ensuring quality service to patrons. Under general direction, the Supervising Librarian plans, creates, oversees, directs, coordinates and participates in the functions for service to adult patrons. This position has oversight over services to adults including reference, collection development, programming and technology including our Lightspeed Makerspace. Oversight includes supervision of professional and paraprofessional full and part time staff, including other supervisors. The ideal candidate will possess strong supervisory and leadership abilities, initiative, be communicative, service oriented and a forward thinker. The supervisor will be expected to establish and maintain good relationships with other library units, city agencies, school districts, and community groups or partners.
The successful candidate will be part of the senior management team and report directly to the library’s administrative team. The senior management team is essential in providing input on library services, procedures, policies, and future alongside the library’s administrative team.

Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Library Science or a closely related field.

Three years of professional / technical experience in a library environment, preferably in a public library.

Valid Class C California driver's license and acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment.

Experience working with and providing services for adults in a library setting.
Previous supervisory experience.

Special Requirement

Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
