The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the City & County of Denver. DPL sees more than 4 million visitors every year across its 27 locations, serves Denver’s most vulnerable communities through outreach and mobile services, hosts thousands of programs a year and manages a collection of more than 1.4 million physical and digital materials. In addition to advertising in newspapers, magazines, in print and on outdoor billboards, the Marketing Department manages the official library social media accounts by planning, drafting and scheduling all content in advance. We coordinate, produce and distribute the Engage! and Conexiones magazines available both online and in print via branches and departments. We also support a variety of marketing and graphic design requests in support of staff ranging from program specific flyers to systemwide signage. We even support the creation and coordination of QR Codes & Translation Services supported by the Cultural Inclusivity Services translation team.
The Language Coordinator will translate and transcreate quality library communications for publication, press releases, and promotional materials with speed, accuracy and correct usage of grammar/spelling/punctuation while preserving the original meaning, tone, and format of the brand’s unique style and voice. In this position, you will modify/edit a variety of communications and documentation (i.e. consent forms, print materials, news releases, social media, website, signage) to ensure their cultural, linguistic, and literacy appropriateness to achieve goals and objectives and determine changes that need to be made in support of local underserved Spanish-language communities. You'll also coordinate and track multiple translation projects for other languages with an external vendor ensuring accuracy and completeness in collaboration with the Translation Review team. Collaborating with the Translation Review team, you'll solicit input regarding Spanish-language’s direction, evaluate Spanish-language’s effectiveness, and assist in developing new translation standards and practices. You'll work closely with creative team (i.e. copywriters and graphic designers) to incorporate translated copy into graphic designs. You'll ensure consistency in all translated materials by maintaining the Spanish-language style guide and support the Spanish Facebook page, website, and outreach/engagement strategies of the cross functional Language Access Plan. Demonstrating a commitment to stewardship, you'll track and verify budget expenditures related to translation services to Marketing Manager.

The Marketing team is working primarily remotely at this time with some in-office time. When in person, this position is based at the Central Library, which has no free parking.
