Hunan Resources Generalist
Job purpose
Provides support for all functions/ responsibilities of the Human Resources Department at The Newark Public Library. The Human Resources Department represents both the employee and the company, and handles all employee relations. The HR Generalist will support the recruitment and on-boarding of new employees by posting job openings, screening potential candidates, setting up interviews, performing reference checks and providing orientation to new employees. Provides guidance to all employees to assist them in navigating the complicated process of benefits and compensation. The HR Generalist will also have the crucial task of ensuing compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations for HR. The ideal candidate will be organized, experienced, and a dedicated strategist and planner.
Duties and responsibilities
· Recruit and screen potential applicants based on experience, skills, and education
· Update job requirements for library positions when needed
· Analyze staffing logistics and organize documentation.
· Perform background checks as required by the Library.
· Organize and manage new employee orientation, on-boarding, and training/professional development programs
· Explain and provide information on employee benefits, programs, and education.
· Advise on benefit needs and evaluate benefit contract bids, as appropriate.
· Ensure human resources policies and procedures are compliant with federal and state requirements
· Maintain employee records and paperwork
· Represent employer in community and recruiting events
· Answer employee questions and addresses employee concerns with company; including employee safety, welfare, wellness and health
· Manage human resource focused committees that oversee employee wellness, training/professional development, health and safety, productive work culture and professional communications as needed
