Librarian (faculty)
Participates in a team environment to perform the duties of a faculty librarian, which include references services, design and delivery of information literacy instruction to a diverse user population; departmental liaison responsibilities; outreach and programming, collection development, and participation in college and District Library committees. Cultivates partnerships and actively works towards establishing productive relationships with departmental faculty, adjuncts, and campus staff. Assesses instruction and program effectiveness on a regular basis. Embraces continual professional development, improvement, and learning in order to remain current in the field. Essential Functions
  • Provides reference services both in-person and online
  • Designs and delivers information literacy sessions, classes, workshops, and other instructional materials using a variety of modalities
  • Assists with the selection, acquisition, promotion, and effective use of Library resources 
  • Leads assigned Library service area(s), as needed (e.g., ASK a Librarian, Electronic Resources, Collections, Instruction, etc.) 
  • Engages user population (students, faculty, staff, community) through relationship building and collaborative efforts 
  • Performs assessment of collections, services, instruction, and library programming 
  • Uses new technologies to improve learning and delivery of service (lib guides, tutorials, web 2.0)
  • Serves on and leads departmental, college, and District teams and committees.
  • Participates in the Library’s commitment to creating a culture embracing diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Other job duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
1. A master's degree in Library or Information Science (or its equivalent) from a graduate professional program accredited by the American Library Association
2. EDU250-Teaching and Learning in the Community Colleges-or equivalent must be completed within two years of date of hire
Desired Qualifications
A. Evidence of engagement in educational design and/or instruction.
B. Knowledge of information literacy principles and/or evidence of using pedagogical best practices to address diverse learning styles and abilities.
C. Evidence of an ability or experience in using technology to provide Library services and/or Instruction, such as experience in design and delivery of interactive tutorials and/or learning management system modules.
D. One (1) or more semesters of demonstrated experience providing in person or online reference services, preferably in an academic environment.
E. Demonstrated experience working with persons from diverse backgrounds and/or commitment
to the success of underrepresented groups.
F. Effective written communication skills as indicated in cover letter and curriculum vitae/ resume
G. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with faculty and other professionals to innovate and/or problem-solve.
