Bilingual (Spanish-English) Reference and Acquisitions Librarian
Reporting to the Library Director, the Bilingual (Spanish-English) Reference and Acquisitions Librarian (BRAL) has primary responsibility for collection development of Spanish-language materials and is the primary reference librarian for Spanish-speaking patrons.
As an Acquisitions Librarian, the BRAL will work with Pitts’ Head of Acquisitions to identify and acquire Spanish-language materials, particularly library-licensed electronic resources, to support the library’s growing Hispanic and Latinx patron base. This acquisitions work may include identifying resources, negotiating with vendors, and budgeting.
As a Reference Librarian, the BRAL is a key member of Pitts Theology Library’s reference and outreach team and coordinates the library’s efforts to advertise and promote its collections and instructional offerings with Spanish-speaking patrons, particularly through virtual forms of reference and instruction. The BRAL will work in coordination with Pitts’ Reference and Instruction Librarian to partner with Emory and Candler instructors to develop and deliver library instruction and tutorials tailored to specific classes, especially courses offered in Spanish, and will work with other key stakeholders, such as AETH’s Coordinator of Library Access, to deliver information literacy instruction to patrons.
