Collection Management & Circulation Services Librarian

General Summary:

The Collection Management & Circulation Services Librarian provides leadership and vision for the ongoing management of the Library’s print and other physical collections, including both local storage and retrieval of collections as well as participation in various shared print repository and management networks. The position works to ensure access to and stewardship of the Library’s physical collections in the larger context of efforts to develop and support consortial "collective collections" and print retention initiatives among academic libraries more broadly.

The Collection Management & Circulation Services Librarian works with Collection Development, Technical Services, Preservation Services and subject specialists to develop strategies for managing the growth and storage of the Library’s physical collections, including developing criteria for the transfer and weeding of materials to and from Regenstein and Mansueto, as well as providing support to other libraries’ collection management needs. This position works closely with others to manage current shared print commitments and to explore future options for on-campus, off-site, and shared print storage options.

The Collection Management & Circulation Services Librarian also provides direction and leadership for the delivery of circulation services related to physical collections and spaces in the Joseph Regenstein Library and the Joe and Rika Mansueto Library, including service points, paging and retrieval, collection maintenance, and the delivery of “space as service” (e.g., space reservations, wayfinding, access, and safety), as well as the software platforms that support these services.

Reporting to the Director of Access Services, the Collection Management & Circulation Services Librarian oversees the Head of Regenstein Circulation & Building Resources, the Head of Mansueto Circulation & ASRS Operations, and the Regenstein Collection Maintenance & Retrieval unit, as well as provides expertise in managing these areas.
