Education: Possession of a Master's Degree in Library Science is required from an accredited college or university; AND
Experience: Four years of progressively responsible supervisory experience providing library services and related activities including budgeting and planning/evaluation of services including two years in a library management position.
Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License is required. Independent travel will be required.
Deputy Director of Library Services- Public Services: Experience with the development and implementation of strategic initiatives at multiple locations and fostering collaboration across a multi-branch system. Encouraging and empowering diverse teams to take risks to advance the organization's mission and vision is another key skill for a top candidate. An ideal candidate will have developed successful partnerships with external stakeholders to serve the community. Finally, a strong candidate will remain positive when faced with challenges.
Deputy Director of Library Services- Support Services: Experience in collection management and/or IT, working with vendors, managing budgets, and a keen understanding of when support departments lead and when they follow within the organization. An ideal candidate will be adept at building and managing relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders, while also possessing strong analytical skills. A top candidate will also have experience working with independent libraries that share an integrated library system.
